Day 2 of the Patentrepreneur Academy’s Part 2: Patent Drafting session focused on transforming our ideas into formal patent documents. 📝

Guided by Ervin L. Rodriguez, we learned how to properly write the essential parts of a patent application, including creating a suitable title, a clear abstract, and a detailed description of our invention. 🤯 We also understood the importance of following proper formatting and complying with the standards set by the patent office.

The activity was organized by BS Entrepreneurship 2A students, led by Lyssa Mae Mendoza, who managed the committees and ensured that everything ran smoothly. 🙌

This experience inspired us to continue developing and protecting our innovative ideas.💡

Patent Drafting in Action: Building Strong Innovations! ✍️

PatenTrepreneur Academy’s Patent Drafting Training (Part 2) kicked off with a strong focus on Claim Drafting, an important skill in securing and protecting new ideas. The session was guided by resource speaker Mr. Ervin L. Rodriguez, PhD, while the program opened with encouraging remarks from Dean Donald M. Patimo.

Second-year BS Entrepreneurship students actively engaged in the discussion and activities, learning how to properly write and structure patent claims. This helped them gain a clearer understanding of how innovations can be presented and protected in a formal way.

The event was successfully organized through the efforts of BS Entrepreneurship 2A students, who handled all committees including Logistics, Marketing & Publicity, Venue, Registration, Documentation, and Equipment & Technical. The team was led by Lyssa Mae Mendoza, whose leadership contributed to the smooth flow of the program.

We look forward to seeing these future Patentrepreneurs continue to grow and improve their skills in the next sessions!

The second day of the 2nd PatenTrepreneur Academy highlighted the successful continuation of our Intellectual Property training, focusing on patent searching and practical application. The program began with motivating words from Program Chair Robin G. Mazorca, followed by an insightful session led by resource speaker Mr. Ervin L. Rodriguez, PhD, who further strengthened our understanding of patent systems and protection strategies.

Participants reviewed key lessons from Day 1, refined their research titles and abstracts, and applied effective keyword-search techniques using Google Patents and Espacenet. In the afternoon, students presented their outputs with improved confidence and skills, followed by an open forum for further discussion and clarification.

The two-day training, held at the Business Development Center of Northwest Samar State University, concluded with recognition of participants and meaningful closing remarks from Instructor Gerry Hope Senolos, emphasizing innovation, originality, and research integrity among future entrepreneurs.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Ervin L. Rodriguez, PhD, and Gerry Hope Senolos for their expertise and guidance, which enabled participants to showcase impressive skills in patent searching.

On February 11, 2026, second-year BS Entrepreneurship students gathered at the Business Development Center of Northwest Samar State University for the 2nd PatenTrepreneur Academy. Held on the second floor of the BDC, the event created an environment filled with excitement and eagerness to learn about protecting innovative ideas in the field of entrepreneurship.

The program opened with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by an opening prayer and welcome remarks. Dean Donald M. Patimo delivered an inspiring message, reminding students to value and protect their ideas as future entrepreneurs. The activity was also attended by Program Chairman Sir Robin Mazorca and Instructor/Coordinator Sir Gerry Hope Senolos, showing their full support for the initiative.
The main session was led by resource speaker Mr. Ervin L. Rodriguez, PhD, who discussed the key principles of intellectual property protection. He emphasized the importance of conducting prior art searches before developing new products and explained the proper way of searching for patents. Students were guided on where to search, how to use reliable patent databases, and how to carefully examine existing patents to avoid duplication and possible legal issues. They were also trained in effective keyword-searching techniques, learning how to turn broad ideas into specific and strategic search terms while understanding technical patent language such as “patentese” and “legalese.”

In the afternoon, participants applied their knowledge by presenting their initial search matrices. Selected students confidently introduced their product concepts and explained their research process, showing both creativity and a stronger understanding of proper patent searching.

The success of the event was made possible through the dedication of the PatenTrepreneur Academy Committees and Facilitators, with special appreciation to the Marketing and Publicity Committees for organizing and promoting this meaningful initiative.
