Mountain Support at MIRINSANAN 2026

Last August 31, our Founder and Chairwoman, Ella Bautista, joined the MIRINSANAN: Municipal Youth Convention 2026 in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, as a speaker on Youth Volunteerism in Nation Building.

She shared some of what volunteerism has looked like through her years of working with communities and young people: not always glamorous, rarely easy, but meaningful when people are willing to show up, do the work, and stick long enough to see the impact of the work.

Thank you to the MIRINSANAN organizers for inviting Mountain Support PH into the conversation, and to every Kabataang Victoreño in that room, salamat. You are not the leaders of tomorrow. You are the proof of today.

A meaningful Sunday for the Roxas Youth.

Mountain Support PH was glad to be part of the Roxas Youth Leadership Summit 5.0, organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Roxas.

Our Founder and Chairwoman, Ella Bautista, joined fellow speakers and student leaders to talk about Youth Volunteerism in Nation Building, drawing from her experiences in community work and volunteer-led initiatives.

Thank you to the SK Federation of Roxas for inviting MSPI to be part of the conversation, and to the student leaders who showed up, listened, and shared the room with us.

We hope the conversation continues beyond the summit.

We’re heading to Gloria!

Mountain Support PH has been invited to join this year's summit, organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Roxas, bringing together youth and student leaders from across the municipality.

Our Founder and Chairwoman, Ella Bautista, will be speaking on “Youth Volunteerism in Nation Building,” sharing experiences from Mountain Support PH's work with communities and young people.

We're looking forward to listening, learning, and having a good conversation with the young leaders of Roxas.

Some lessons are meant to be experienced, not just taught.

For the young Sitio Scientists of Sinariri and Panaytayan, learning went beyond the walls of their communities.

As part of Happy STEM Schools, they took their first field trip—seeing new places, encountering new ideas, and discovering that science is not confined to a classroom. It is everywhere: in the places we visit, the questions we ask, and the world we are learning to understand.

For some, it may be just a field trip.
For them, it is a first step toward a bigger world of possibilities.

Every child deserves the opportunity to explore, discover, and dream beyond what they already know.

Some people naturally become the calm presence a team can rely on.

Meet Lorie Jhean R. Hernandez, our Program Operations Associate. While she may be one of the quieter members of the team, her actions speak for themselves. From patiently listening to community members to making sure the details behind every activity come together, Lorie approaches her work with care, consistency, and genuine compassion.

She reminds us that meaningful community work isn’t always loud. More often, it’s built through trust, showing up, and taking the time to understand what people truly need.

Thank you, Lorie, for the heart you bring to Mountain Support PH. We’re grateful to have you on the team.

Young people don't have to wait to create meaningful change.

Today, we're featuring John Kerby Ornos, one of our Program Coordinators, whose time, commitment, and willingness to learn help move our work forward, one step at a time.

Kerby brings energy, reliability, and a willingness to learn to every task he takes on. Whether coordinating activities, supporting the team behind the scenes, or working directly with communities, he reminds us that meaningful work is built through consistency, collaboration, and showing up.

Before We Build, We Listen

On July 16, the Mountain Support PH team hiked to the off-grid Hanunuo Mangyan community of Sitio Sinariri, Mansalay to continue discussions on the next phase of Happy STEM Schools.

Together with Sitio Leader Anderson Layhot, community members, and 1LT Niño L. Lofranco (INF) PA, representing the 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, we held a community consultation on the possibility of establishing a community-based STEM learning space and library.

Community members shared that they would first like to hold their own internal meeting so everyone in the sitio can take part in deciding whether they wish to move forward. We fully respect this process. Once the community reaches a decision, Mountain Support PH will return for further discussions and the possible signing of a partnership agreement.

While the consultation was taking place, our volunteers prepared and served pancakes for the children, creating a simple opportunity to gather, share a meal, and spend time together.

We thank the community of Sitio Sinariri for welcoming us and the 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Philippine Army (Always First Battalion), for their assistance and coordination during the visit. We look forward to continuing the conversation after the community has completed its internal consultation.

Community-led STEM education begins by listening. Before any plans are made, communities deserve the opportunity to decide what they want for their own future. We look forward to returning to Sitio Sinariri after their community discussion and continuing the conversation together.

Happy birthday to our founder and chairwoman, Miss Ella.

Today we’re looking back to 2022, when Mountain Support was just beginning in the mountains of Cabuyao Village, Oriental Mindoro. Instead of a party, she chose to spend her birthday with the community, joined by her family, doing what would later grow into the work we continue today.

May you keep finding strength in the places that shaped you, and courage in choosing service, even when it’s not easy.
