🕊️ PROJECT DISARM MOBILIZES 250+ PARTICIPANTS NATIONWIDE FOR PEACE EDUCATION AND SAFER SCHOOL CULTURES

More than 250 participants representing different schools across the Philippines came together virtually on September 7, 2026 for PROJECT DISARM: A Virtual Peace Education and Safe School Culture Lab, an initiative of JCI Macajalar 24K in partnership with AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines.

Held in observance of National Peace Consciousness Month, Project DISARM translated peace education into practical skills young people can use in the spaces where conflict often begins: in classrooms, peer groups, conversations, and digital communities.

Rather than treating peace simply as the absence of violence, the interactive learning lab challenged participants to examine the everyday thoughts, words, online behaviors, and responses that shape whether a school community becomes safer, more inclusive, and more humane.

Under the PEACE EDUCATION Call to Action, participants underwent a series of experiential learning sessions designed around empathy, responsible communication, conflict navigation, digital responsibility, and help-seeking—areas specifically encouraged under the JCI Philippines Education for Peace framework.

The first learning block, “DISARM THE THOUGHTS: From Assumption to Understanding,” taught participants to distinguish observation from interpretation, recognize how assumptions can become labels, suspend judgment, and practice perspective-taking.

“DISARM THE WORDS: Conflict Without Cruelty” then explored the difference between conflict and violence, behaviors that escalate or de-escalate disagreements, constructive responses, and the point at which peer intervention must give way to adult support. The session introduced a practical DISARM response: stop, separate fact from assumption, seek another perspective, speak without humiliating, and seek help when necessary.

Participants also examined their responsibility in digital spaces through “DISARM THE IMAGES: Before You Post, Forward, or Amplify.” The module demonstrated how screenshots, rumors, humiliating content, graphic material, and seemingly small online actions can quickly amplify harm, while challenging young people to distinguish genuine awareness from turning another person’s experience into spectacle.

The final learning component, “SUPPORT, DON’T DIAGNOSE: When Someone Is Hurting,” focused on appropriate peer support and help-seeking without expecting young people to act as counselors or threat assessors. Participants were taught a simple principle: “Care. Listen. Connect.” The module emphasized taking serious concerns seriously, not promising secrecy when safety is involved, and helping peers connect with parents, teachers, guidance counselors, school child-protection focal persons, or other appropriate professionals.

For the PEACE AWARENESS Call to Action, Project DISARM used its nationwide virtual reach to bring conversations on safe spaces, conflict, anti-bullying, responsible digital behavior, harmful online content, and help-seeking directly to young people from schools across the country. This responds to the Education for Peace guideline calling for campaigns and information drives addressing issues affecting social harmony in schools, communities, and digital spaces, particularly during National Peace Consciousness Month in September.

The activity culminated in a School Peace Lab and a personal DISARM Commitment, asking participants to move from awareness to action. Among the commitments were questioning assumptions before judging others, disagreeing without dehumanizing, refusing to normalize humiliation as humor, not spreading harmful content for entertainment, seeking trusted adults when someone may be in danger, and choosing dialogue where it is safe.

Project DISARM also strengthened the third Call to Action: PEACE PARTNERSHIP.

JCI Macajalar 24K and AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines formally sealed their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding represented by 2026 JCI Macajalar 24K Local Organization President Mandy Nokom and AFS Philippines National Director Hannah Mae S. Salugsugan.

The partnership establishes a continuing framework for peace education, intercultural understanding, youth leadership, volunteerism, community engagement, and global citizenship.

With Project DISARM, JCI Macajalar 24K brought together all three Calls to Action of JCI Philippines’ Education for Peace Program—EDUCATING young people with practical peacebuilding competencies, AMPLIFYING awareness for safer and more responsible school communities, and BUILDING partnerships that can sustain the work beyond a single activity.

Because peace is not only something we advocate.

It is something we practice—in what we assume, what we say, what we amplify, how we respond, and what we choose to normalize.

🤝🕊️ PEACE PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION: JCI MACAJALAR 24K × AFS PHILIPPINES

Today, JCI Macajalar 24K and AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines formally sealed a partnership grounded in a shared commitment to peace education, intercultural understanding, youth leadership, volunteerism, and community engagement.

Through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, the two organizations are bringing together their complementary strengths: JCI Macajalar 24K’s network and experience in youth leadership, civic engagement, and community action, and AFS Philippines’ expertise in intercultural learning, global citizenship education, and youth exchange.

The partnership directly advances the PEACE PARTNERSHIP Call to Action of the JCI Philippines Education for Peace Program 2026—building meaningful collaboration among youth organizations, educational institutions, civil society, and communities in support of peace. 🕊️

And we are starting immediately.

This September, in celebration of National Peace Consciousness Month, the partnership comes to life through DISARM: A Virtual Peace Education and Safe School Culture Lab—our joint initiative equipping young people with competencies in empathy, intercultural understanding, constructive communication, conflict navigation, responsible digital citizenship, and appropriate help-seeking.

Through this partnership, JCI Macajalar 24K and AFS Philippines bring peace education closer to young people by equipping them with the understanding and skills to respond to differences, conflict, and challenges with empathy and constructive action.

👶🏻💗 THE HEALTH MINUTE: NEWBORN SAFETY AND GUIDE | OBliss: The Triad Cradle

Welcoming a newborn comes with a heart full of love—and a whole new world of learning. 🍼✨

On August 9, 2026, JCI Macajalar 24K, in partnership with JCI Greater Pagadian, brought “The Health Minute: Newborn Safety and Guide” to the new mothers and fathers of Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center, Pagadian City, under JCI Greater Pagadian’s OBliss: The Triad Cradle.

With the guidance of the dedicated Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center nurses and hospital staff, we shared essential knowledge and practical guidance on newborn safety and proper aftercare—empowering parents to care for their little ones with greater confidence and love. 🤍

As a small gesture of care, we also distributed sanitary kits for mothers and babies, providing essential items to support them through their journey beyond the hospital.

Because every new beginning deserves to be met with knowledge, compassion, and a little extra care. 🌱👶🏻

Together, let’s nurture safer beginnings and healthier tomorrows. 💗

From August 21–23, 2026, the Nazareth Gymnasium in Cagayan de Oro City became a stage for discipline, excellence, and sportsmanship as we witnessed the 2026 Philippine National Kata and Team Judo Championships. 🇵🇭✨

Through M24Kares: JUDO, JCI Macajalar 24K proudly joined hands with our partners in supporting and uplifting young athletes as they showcased not only their strength and skill, but also the values of respect, perseverance, discipline, and camaraderie that make Judo truly remarkable.
