The Young Gender And Development Advocates - Cagayan de Oro (YOGADA CDO) is a premier youth-led organization that advocates Gender And Development as a development framework, and committed to promote Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. Young Gender And Development Advocates (YOGADA) is a premier youth-led organization based in Cagayan de Oro City that advocates Gender and Development as a development framework, and promotes Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in the community. The group was created through a Committee on Gender and Development of the Navona Lumbia Homeowners Association as the external arm of the committee to support gender and development efforts.

𝐍𝐕𝐋 𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲: PUBLIC ADVISED TO WEAR FACE MASKS DUE TO HAZE

The Committee on Gender and Development - Navona Lumbia Homeowners’ Association supports the local government’s health precautionary advisory by disseminating relevant information to community members regarding the potential health impacts of haze exposure. This initiative aims to strengthen public awareness, promote appropriate preventive measures, and contribute to the protection of the health and well-being of all individuals within the community.

City Government of Cagayan de Oro has advised the public to wear face masks, particularly when going outside their homes, as a precautionary measure against the haze, which may affect air quality.

The haze currently being experienced in some areas has reportedly been associated with smoke from forest fires in Indonesia, which may be carried by prevailing winds to other areas.

Haze is a mixture of smoke, dust, and fine airborne particles that may cause eye irritation, coughing, and difficulty breathing, particularly among children and senior citizens.

The public is therefore advised to wear face masks, limit unnecessary outdoor activities, and follow advisories issued by the authorities regarding air quality.

As the initiative’s advocacy hub, the Navona Lumbia Clubhouse, through its iconic community landmark, served as the primary venue for information dissemination and advocacy activities aimed at increasing awareness and strengthening community understanding of Republic Act No. 11313, or the Philippine Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law). The campaign sought to promote a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive community by providing residents with accessible information on the law, its key provisions, and mechanisms for addressing gender-based sexual harassment and other prohibited acts covered by the legislation.

To facilitate wider access to information, QR-code-enabled information and educational materials were strategically utilized, allowing community members to conveniently access relevant information on the provisions, scope, and implementation of the Philippine Safe Spaces Act. This digital approach enhanced the accessibility and reach of the campaign while supporting sustained community-level awareness and advocacy.

The campaign was implemented as a month-long advocacy initiative from July to August 2026, contributing to the broader objectives of promoting gender equality, strengthening gender-responsive community mechanisms, advancing the protection of individuals from gender-based discrimination and harassment, and supporting an inclusive and safe community environment.

𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒 | Institutionalizing Gender and Development mainstreaming in the Policies of the Navona Lumbia Homeowners Association 🏳️‍🌈

Embedding Gender and Development (GAD) principles as a permanent and integral part of the Homeowners Association's policies, governance, decision-making processes, programs, and operations. The Committee on Gender and Development - Navona Lumbia Homeowners' Association is pushing for a more gender-responsive policy to be integrated in the existing Navona By-Laws.

During the 2nd General Assembly of the Navona Lumbia Homeowners Association, held on 26 April 2026 (Sunday), the Committee on Gender and Development (GAD) formally proposed amendments to the Association's existing By-Laws through Board Resolution No. 17, Series of 2026, entitled "Inclusion of the Committee on Gender and Development and the Mainstreaming of Gender-Responsive Policies in the Navona Lumbia Homeowners Association By-Laws." The proposed resolution seeks to institutionalize gender-responsive governance by integrating Gender and Development (GAD) principles into the Association's governing policies and formally establishing the Committee on Gender and Development as one of its Standing Committees.

The proposed amendment received the endorsement and full support of the Board of Directors and the members of the Association, recognizing Gender and Development mainstreaming as a strategic governance priority that promotes inclusive, equitable, and gender-responsive community development.

Specifically, the proposed resolution seeks to integrate gender-responsive policies into the Association's existing By-Laws and formally constitute the Committee on Gender and Development as a Standing Committee in accordance with the provisions of Department Circular No. 2023-009, Series of 2023, issued by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD). As a duly constituted committee composed of Association members, the GAD Committee shall lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programs, projects, and activities that promote human rights, gender sensitivity, gender equality, women's empowerment, and social inclusion, while ensuring that gender perspectives are systematically integrated into the Association's governance, policy formulation, decision-making processes, and community development initiatives.

On April 17, 2019, the Philippines enacted Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act, recognizing that harassment can happen anywhere: on the streets, in workplaces, in public spaces, in schools, and even online.

On its 7th year of enactment, the message remains clear: everyone deserves safety, dignity, and respect in all spaces.

This law not only defines what constitutes gender-based sexual harassment—it also affirms that these acts have consequences and that accountability is key to building safer communities.

At bilang Pilipinong may respeto, maging kabahagi tayo sa pagbuo ng komunidad kung saan ang lahat ay ligtas at walang harassed. Kaya sa pagkakaroon ng safe spaces, kasali tayo. Ano, tara?

𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 | The Committee on Gender and Development (GAD) of the Navona Lumbia Homeowners’ Association proudly presents the Gender Disaggregated Data on the Free Vegetable Seedlings Distribution in line with the annual celebration of National Women's Month! 💜

A total of 22 individuals availed the FREE VEGETABLE SEEDLINGS, this gender-disaggregated data on the distribution of free vegetable seedlings reflects strong and encouraging participation from the community, particularly among women.

This trend highlights the active role of women in household food production, urban gardening, and community-based sustainability efforts. Their high level of engagement suggests that the initiative effectively reached its intended participants, particularly those who are directly involved in ensuring food security and nutritional well-being within their households. It also demonstrates women’s responsiveness to programs that provide accessible and practical resources for livelihood augmentation and self-sufficiency.

At the same time, the participation of men, although smaller in number, indicates emerging shared interest and involvement in such initiatives. This reflects a positive step toward fostering inclusive community participation in food production activities.

Overall, the data suggests that the program is successfully supporting and empowering community members—especially women—by enhancing access to agricultural resources. It further reinforces the importance of sustaining such initiatives, as they contribute to strengthening household resilience, promoting gender-responsive participation, and advancing inclusive community development.

𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 | The Committee on Gender and Development (GAD) of the Navona Lumbia Homeowners’ Association successfully concluded “MARCHA NAVONA: Navona Lumbia Women’s March” on March 28, 2026 (Saturday), as the culminating activity for the annual National Women’s Month Celebration. This initiative was conducted in alignment with the recurring national theme, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” and this year’s subtheme, “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”

Anchored on the revitalization of the modern Babaylan spirit and leadership, residents of the Navona Lumbia community collectively mobilized to advocate for strengthened women’s representation and the promotion of a gender-responsive community where discrimination is not tolerated. The activity also served as a platform to further intensify awareness and understanding of Republic Act No. 9710, also known as the Magna Carta of Women.

Over 30 participants proudly donned purple shirts as a symbolic expression of solidarity and advocacy while marching throughout the community. This was followed by a vegetable seed planting activity, signifying their collective commitment to environmental sustainability and community resilience.

The Women’s March, as a global advocacy movement, advances women’s rights, social justice, and gender equality. It emerged in response to pressing issues related to women’s rights, reproductive health and rights, LGBTQ+ inclusion, racial equity, immigration, and other intersecting social justice concerns.

𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | MARCHA NAVONA: The 2026 Navona Lumbia Women's March is here! 🌷

Calling all runners, joggers, environmental ploggers, bike enthusiast, women, youth, equality allies, and interested individuals to join us in this activity!

In line with the Philippine National Women's Celebration and its recurring theme, WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society, along with this year's subtheme, "Lead Like The Babaylans, Filipinas!" the Committee on Gender and Development - Navona Lumbia Homeowners' Association will conduct its second-run of global movement participation, titled 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐀 𝐍𝐀𝐕𝐎𝐍𝐀: 2026 Navona Lumbia Women's March.

The event will take place on March 28, 2025 (Saturday), assembly at the Navona Lumbia Clubhouse, starting at 7:30 AM.

Below are the following details regarding the activity:

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨: All participants will march around Navona Lumbia community while distributing GAD-related IEC Materials per household. After the march, all attendees may participate in the vegetable seeds planting.

𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐞: Starting from the Navona Lumbia Clubhouse - Block 02 - Block 05 - Block 01 - back to Navona Lumbia Clubhouse.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫: Participants can wear anything purple, sportswear attire, or comfortable clothes with a touch of purple.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Face Towel, Water with Bottle Flask, FOODS & DRINKS to share for all.

All attendees will receive FREE SNACKS!
