The Indigenous People's Welfare Advocacy Group (IWAG) Cadiz City is a youth organization that promote the Indigenous community’s rights, culture, social welfare, government participation, and economic opportunities in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental. As a youth organization in Cadiz City Negros Occidental, the Indigenous Peoples Welfare Advocacy Group also known as IWAG Cadiz City aims to promote th

e Indigenous Community’s rights, culture, social welfare, government participation, and economic opportunities, more specifically the Ata tribe, the only indigenous community in Cadiz City. IWAG Cadiz was created out of desire for an inclusive, inward-looking, effective, and strong advocacy organization who looks and promotes the welfare of the indigenous communities.

Mr. Jeanel C. Gregorio, Ms. Maekhaella Descalsota, and Mr. Kazer Theo Olvido participated in a 2-day Teacher Development Program (TDP) organized by the UPV Pahinungód Team in partnership with the UPV Negrense Organization on June 6-7, 2026 in Victorias City.

The Teacher Development Program (TDP) provided professional development opportunities for educators through sessions led by faculty members from the UPV Division of Professional Education, equipping teachers with innovative, learner-centered teaching and assessment strategies.

IWAG - Cadiz City, through Jeanel Gregorio and Benjie Dianala, President and Member respectively, served as Resource Speakers during the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office 𝑷𝑾𝑫 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒆, “𝑭𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔.”

The training focused on the importance of establishing connection and camaraderie within their organization.

Jeanel Gregorio highlighted the role of the youth in today’s generation as bearers of hope for others. He also reiterated the significance of knowing themselves better, as this is vital in every step and decision they make.

On the other hand, Benjie Dianala facilitated the team-building activity, highlighting the importance of collaboration in every program and project they will implement.

The training served not only as a venue for learning, but also as an opportunity to build confidence and inspire the youth to become catalysts of positive change for the PWD sector and beyond.
