SOLO PARENT BENEFITS: Why are they still asking for COE or Proof of Income? π
βIf I have a job and somehow earn an income, am I not entitled to benefits? β
That's a valid question, Mi π
Because sometimes there are a lot of requirements, it's like applying for scholarship abroad!
π WITHOUT COE OR REGULAR JOB (INFORMAL SECTOR / NO INCOME DOCUMENTS)
Don't worry π
According to RA 11861 (Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act), if you don't have COE, payslip, or formal employment, you can submit:
βοΈ Certificate of Indigency from barangay
βοΈ Affidavit of No Income
These documents are used by MSWD/CSWDO as part of the assessment to see your situation and what benefits are appropriate for you.
π‘ It means, it's not automatic approval, but it's a big help as an official supporting document.
π WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO CHECK INCOME?
This is being done to better prioritize aid in programs with income-based criteria.
With some benefits, especially those with financial assistance, it is checked if the family is included in the income threshold or poverty guidelines used by the government.
π‘ He's just like a queue in the emergency room π
It's not because there's favoritism, but it's just prioritizing those who are more needy at that time.
πΈ IF THERE IS A JOB AND INCOME, ARE THERE NO BENEFITS?
That's not true π
There are benefits that does not depend on the amount of income, as long as you are qualified as a solo parent.
βοΈ 7-DAY PARENTAL LEAVE
If you're employed (government or private), you can have:
π 7 days paid parental leave per year
π You just need to have rendered at least 6 months of service to your employer
π‘ Using it to be with and take care of your child when needed, without losing income on those days π
βοΈ FLEXIBLE WORK ARRANGEMENTS
You can request the employer of:
π adjusted working hours
π other work setup if possible
β οΈ But it still depends on the nature of the job and the approval of the employer.
βοΈ DISCOUNT + VAT EXEMPTION
For qualified solo parents with an income of β±250,000 or less per year, there is a 10% discount and VAT exemption for the following for children 6 years old and below:
π Products: Baby formula (milk), diapers, food, food and micronutrient supplements.
π Medical and Health: Prescription drugs, vaccines, and fees (fees) for medical and dental services.
π Education: School supplies for a child's learning.
β οΈ Note: This discount and VAT exemption is only available for the exclusive use and benefit of your child from birth until he/she turns six (6) years of age. This can not be used for parent's own personal expenses or children 7 and older.
π HOW TO AVAIL THIS IN ESTABLISHMENTS?
To avail of this discount, it is mandatory to show your Purchase Slip Booklet from LGU with your Solo Parent ID to record your purchases.
(Reminder: The amount of milk or diapers to be purchased should only be sufficient for the child's personal consumption, while the medicine should be based on the doctor's exact prescription to avoid the cashier's error).
βοΈ OTHER SUPPORT
Depending on the LGU and eligibility assessment, there can be:
π scholarships
π livelihood programs
π social assistance services
π‘ It's really different per LGU that's why sometimes it's like a "menu" π
not all are available the same.
π REALITY CHECK LANG (LIGHT MODE ON)
Sometimes it's really like this in the process:
"Please complete this... β βοΈ
"Oh, there's still something missing... β βοΈ
"Please come back with additional requirements... β π
It's tiring sometimes, but the goal of MSWD/CSWDO is proper validation to make sure the assistance goes to the right place.
β οΈ IMPORTANT REMINDER
Solo Parent ID (S**C) is the primary proof of your status.
But each benefit has its own requirements and evaluation process depending on the program and LGU.
π That's why it's still best to ask directly to the MSWD/CSWDO of your area so the info is updated and accurate π
π DISCLAIMER
This information is based on RA 11861 (Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act) and general implementing practices.
Approval of the benefits still depends on the LGU's assessment and the availability of funds.
SOLO PARENT BENEFITS: Bakit hinihingan pa ng COE o Proof of Income? π
π KUNG WALANG COE O REGULAR NA TRABAHO (INFORMAL SECTOR / NO INCOME DOCUMENTS)
Huwag mag-alala π
βοΈ Certificate of Indigency mula sa barangay
βοΈ Affidavit of No Income
π BAKIT BA KAILANGANG TINGNAN ANG KITA?
βοΈ 7-DAY PARENTAL LEAVE
βοΈ FLEXIBLE WORK ARRANGEMENTS
Puwede kang mag-request sa employer ng:
π adjusted working hours
π ibang work setup kung possible
π PAANO ITO I-AVAIL SA MGA ESTABLISYEMENTO?
βοΈ IBA PANG SUPORTA
Depende sa LGU at eligibility assessment, puwedeng may:
π scholarships
π livelihood programs
π social assistance services
π‘ Iba-iba talaga per LGU kaya minsan parang βmenuβ π
hindi lahat pare-pareho ang available.
π REALITY CHECK LANG (LIGHT MODE ON)
