BROTHER ATTY. RONEL U. BUENAVENTURA, NEWLY MINTED AMLC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - A True Inspiration to the Craft
Bro. Atty. Ronel U. Buenaventura is a member of Cupang Masonic Lodge No. 295, where he was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in 2019. He served as Junior Warden of the Lodge in 2022. Among his masonic appendant bodies are Mabuhay Shriners, the Order of the Secret Monitor, and Pagong Ako Kuyang Pilipinas. He is also an active member of the Masons’ Order of Law Association Inc. serving as one of the Bar Examinations lecturers.
Pursuant to Section 8 of Republic Act No. 9160, as amended, the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) Secretariat is headed by an Executive Director.
Bro. Atty. Ronel U. Buenaventura, the newly appointed Executive Director, brings a distinguished record in public service, legal practice, and academia. He previously served in key roles within the AMLC and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and was instrumental in the country’s exit from the FATF Grey List. He also held leadership roles in the private sector and served at the Office of the Solicitor General.
A topnotcher in the 2015 Bar Examinations (10th place), Bro. Ronel graduated magna cm laude from Bulacan State University College of Law and holds advanced degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of the Philippines Diliman.
He currently teaches Commercial Law in several leading law schools.
