More Than Titles: The Story of Dr. Jhoselle Tus
by John Lenard Dela Cruz
"I'm thankful na nailagay natin ang pangalan ng Sintang Paaralan (JILCF) among the top schools," said Dr. Jhoselle Tus after being recognized as Rank No. 99 in the Alper-Dรถger Scientific Index 2026 โ Philippines Top 1,000 Scientists.
The recognition not only highlights Dr. Tus' contributions to research but also places Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation, Inc. (JILCF) among institutions represented in the prestigious ranking.
"Naging hobby ko na, na lagi kong hinahanap 'yung pangalan ko sa Google [...] katuwaan lang talaga ito, hindi ko siya sineryoso," Tus stated when asked about his motivation for doing research and being placed among the country's top scientists.
The ranking was determined by the total number of citations received by his published research works, reflecting the impact of his contributions to the academic community.
During an interview, he said, โDo your research not just because of requirements, but because you want to share something and impact society,โ highlighting that research extends beyond the academic field and reaches society itself.
Aside from earning a Doctor of Psychology degree, Dr. Tus also completed his second doctorate degree, Doctor of Public Administration.
Turning to a new field is difficult, but not impossible. It is a kind of exploration that expands not only one's field of expertise but also one's capacity to learn.
"Nabanggit ko na katuwaan lang ito noonโฆ pati itong pag-aaral ng Doctor of Public Administration," he shared.
Dr. Tus reminded us that having fear about certain things or situations is natural. Something that we do not know yet or something that may open us to more wonders once we choose to face it.
More importantly, he emphasized that research is not only for a select few.
"Learning never stops. At hindi lamang pangmatatalino ang research; it's for everyone. It's all about passion. Kapag mahal mo ang ginagawa mo, kahit mahirap, with God's providence, walang imposible," he said.
Dr. Tus' life is a testimony that learning should never stop at a certain degree or stage in life. It is an endless journey. The more we explore, the more we discover, showing that people are not hindered by limitations when they pursue knowledge with passion and purpose.
