About the 4-H Club

The 4-H Club is an organization made up of out-of-school youth (OSY) and in-school youth (ISY) engaged in agriculture programs and livelihood projects, all geared toward the four-fold development of the HEAD, HEART, HANDS, and HEALTH.
What the 4 H's Stand For:

𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | 𝐁𝐄𝐘𝐎𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐊: 𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐆’𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑-𝐈𝐍-𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐅
The story of an unexpected writer and the lesson that birthed a legacy

Greatness rarely arrives with fanfare. More often than not, it begins in the quietest corners of self-doubt—sparked not by a lifelong ambition, but by a simple, courage-filled question.

For Kyle Dial Degollado, former Editor-in-Chief of the HILAG Publication and graduate student in the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Animal Science program at PRMSU–Botolan Campus, becoming the voice of student journalism was never in the blueprint. He wasn't the decorated contest kid from grade school, nor was he the quiet bookworm always glued to a newspaper in the corner of a classroom.

Yet today, as he holds the campus’ highest honors as the Student Journalist of the Year, he looks back only to realize that his whole journey boiled down to an unexpected invitation—and two words that changed everything.

𝗔 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘

There was a time when the publication office felt dangerously quiet. HILAG Publication was on the brink of fading into inactivity, desperately needing fresh blood and willing hands to ink its pages. During an all-hands meeting, the publication adviser, Sir Doy, saw something in Kyle that Kyle had not yet recognized in himself.

Sir Doy extended an invitation to join. It would have been easy to decline, to slip back into the comfort zone of being a regular student. But instead of walking away, a quiet whisper echoed in his mind:

"Why not sumali ako?" he asked himself.

"Why not try another avenue for learning like journalism?"

That single moment shattered his preconceived notions. To him, journalism had always felt like an exclusive club reserved for the top of the class, the natural writers, or the literary elites. He genuinely believed he had no place in that world.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧

The real turning point, however, came during a meeting when his mentor, Sir Rene Regazpi, shared a reminder that would stay etched in his mind forever:

"Hindi kailangan na magaling ka o bihasa ka sa isang bagay, basta nandoon ang puso mo, passion mo, commitment mo na ipahayag kung ano ang kagustuhan mo, na kung saan ganoon din ang hangarin ng publication,” Dr. Regazpi’s exact words.

Those words lit a fire inside him. He realized that true campus journalism wasn't about flawless grammar or a shelf full of high school medals. It was about dedication, service, and giving a voice to the student body.

Lacking formal press training and conference experience compared to seasoned writers, Kyle and his team stepped into the newsroom armed with sheer grit. They wrestled with late-night deadlines after exhausting lectures, pulled all-nighters over page layouts, and entered competitions relying purely on teamwork and passion. Out of those sleepless nights and sacrifices, a quiet resilience began to bear fruit.

𝗔 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗨𝗠𝗣𝗛

Standing tall today as the Student Journalist of the Year, Kyle remains remarkably grounded. For him, the distinction was never a solitary win.

"Ang magawaran bilang Student Journalist of the Year ay isang malaking karangalan para sa atin, hindi lang para sa akin kundi sa lahat ng bumubuo ng (HILAG) publication," he shares with deep humility.

He remembers his team—the writers, editors, and layout artists who refused to back down even when resources were scarce and challenges mounted. Despite every obstacle, the team kept showing up, printing, publishing, and competing.

"Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng bumubuo ng HILAG STAFF," he adds. "Kasi andoon ang passion and alam ko sa sarili kong mas hihigitan pa ang mga nagawa namin before."

𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗘𝗡

As Kyle prepares to step off the campus stage with his diploma in one hand and his award in the other, he leaves behind a simple yet powerful charge for the next generation of storytellers:

"Please continue to inform, enlighten, and inspire. To God be all the glory!"

What began as a hesitant "Why not?" ends as an enduring testament: when you lead with heart, passion, and commitment, an accidental detour can become your greatest legacy.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 | PRMSU-BC College of Agriculture and Forestry-Student Body Organization receives “Most Active Organization” Award

The College of Agriculture and Forestry Student Body Organization (CAF-SBO) received the prestigious "Most Active Organization" award for the academic year 2025–2026 given by the Student Organization (SO) Unit under the Office Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) of President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU).

The leadership team led by President April Joy Ermita, Vice President Steven Ebueng, and their fellow officers received the award alongside CAF-SBO adviser Angelo Fermil.

Serving as a major highlight of the year, the CAF Olympics 2026 saw massive student participation across all activities organized by the student council. The events significantly enhanced the practical and academic skills, talents, and social capabilities of the participants. Throughout the year, the CAF-SBO transformed the college experience for agriculture, forestry, amd emvironmental science students by balancing academic support, student welfare initiatives, and memorable community events.

The organization’s impact goes far beyond standard student council duties. Deeply invested in the academic and professional growth of their peers, the CAF-SBO continuously demonstrates that the fields of agriculture, forestry, and environmental science are deeply rooted in campus-based leadership.

CAF-SBO’s success is not only an organizational milestone but also a profound source of pride for the PRMSU-Botolan Campus. The recognition stands as a powerful testament to student leaders who refuse to back down from any academic or leadership challenge.
