BOHOL TOURISM: RESPONDING TO CHALLENGES WITH COLLABORATION AND CONFIDENCE
The tourism industry is experiencing some softness in guest arrivals, influenced by broader national and international conditions. While these challenges are beyond the control of any single destination, what remains within our control is how we respond, how we adapt, and how we work together as an industry.
For Bohol, this is the time to strengthen the markets already within our reach. Our domestic and local travelers remain an important foundation of the tourism economy, and we must continue creating relevant experiences, competitive offerings, and compelling reasons for them to explore and rediscover Bohol.
The recent Travel Expo hosted by Bohol Provincial Tourism Office in partnership with the Island City Mall demonstrated the value of bringing our tourism products directly to our local market. Hotels and resorts were given an opportunity to showcase their promotions, while consumers were able to discover that memorable Bohol experiences are available within their reach.
We also welcome the encouraging results from the recently concluded Travel Expo in Cebu, supported by the Bohol Association of Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants. Participating members reported positive inquiries and actual room bookings, an important reminder that demand continues to exist when we actively bring Bohol to the market.
These initiatives demonstrate something important: tourism cannot wait for business to simply arrive at our doors. We must go where the market is, build relationships, communicate our value, and continuously create demand.
BAHRR likewise welcomes the initiative of the Provincial Government of Bohol regarding the Tourism Code. We look forward to its implementation and corresponding guidelines and hope that it will further strengthen standards, sustainability, competitiveness, and collaboration among tourism stakeholders.
The challenges facing tourism today should not discourage us. They should encourage us to become more creative, efficient, and united.
Every room occupied supports employment. Every restaurant table filled supports our farmers, fishermen, suppliers, and local entrepreneurs. Every visitor who chooses Bohol contributes to a much larger economic ecosystem that supports thousands of Boholano families.
Our message to our fellow stakeholders is simple:
Let us continue promoting Bohol. Let us support one another. Let us protect the quality of our destination and continue giving our guests reasons to return.
The market may be softer today, but Bohol remains one of the country's most compelling destinations.
We remain confident. We remain resilient. And together, we continue moving Bohol tourism forward.
