Achievement Unlocked: James Dyson Award 2025

" I am proud to share that my project, Pencroscope – a pen-sized digital microscope, has been officially featured and official entrant in the James Dyson Award 2025.

This year, there were around 1,600 entries worldwide, including 50 from the Philippines. While I didn’t make it to the national Top 3, being part of this year’s competition and standing alongside some of the brightest innovators in the world is already a milestone I deeply value.

The James Dyson Award celebrates real problem-solving through design and engineering. Having my work recognized on this global platform motivates me to keep pushing the boundaries of innovation, sustainability, and accessible technology.

Thank you to everyone who supported this journey. The Pencroscope is just one step and there’s more to come."

Modern Filipino innovator Ceejay Faala has revealed the MicroPen, a wireless digital microscope measuring just 3 cm × 1.5 cm × 1 cm — roughly the size of an adult thumb. Despite its ultra-compact design, the MicroPen delivers powerful magnification capabilities.

This breakthrough builds on Faala’s earlier invention, the Pencroscope, but pushes miniaturization further while maintaining functionality. The MicroPen could potentially be the smallest fully functional digital microscopes publicly known.

Faala is preparing to submit it for recognition in the Guinness World Records as an attempt for the world’s smallest digital microscope which would happen if he had lready the Utility Model (UM) Certificate and the invention has finalized.

Filipino Innovator Develops Soil-Free Germination Tech for All Seed Types and Plant Growth Studies.

Ceejay Faala unveils a nature-inspired method that allows various seeds to germinate and grow without soil, nutrients, direct water contact, sunlight, or even open air. This breakthrough supports scientific studies, education, and modern sustainable farming through biomimicry-driven innovation.

The seed has used in experiment is Litchi Chinesis (Lychee) A fruit bearing tree that usually grows in temperate regions. Lychee seed is so sensitive that you should plant it before 3 days after removing it from its fruit. The sample is healthy and alive for a month umder experimental conditions.
