Former OVP special disbursing officer Gina Acosta testified that Vice President Sara Duterte personally ordered the release of P125 million in confidential funds to her security chief, Col. Raymund Lachica, in December 2022. House prosecutor Terry Ridon called the testimony one of the “smoking guns” in the impeachment trial, noting that Acosta could not identify any provision in Joint Circular 2015-01 authorizing a security officer to disburse the funds.

Malacañang said Monday it cannot confirm reports that Vice President Sara Duterte had allegedly sought a private meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to supposedly offer her resignation and seek permission to run in the 2028 presidential elections. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the administration has received no information confirming that such a meeting was requested or took place.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed one count of grave threats against Vice President Sara Duterte over her remarks that she had hired someone to kill President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and others if she were killed.

The charge was filed before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act. Bail was set at ₱120,000.

Former DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan will remain an accused in the graft case over the alleged flood control project anomalies after the Sandiganbayan denied the motion to exclude him. The court said his inclusion is necessary for the full presentation of evidence and the proper determination of each accused's role, including Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
