M'LANG, Cotabato โ As part of the nationwide celebration of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Week, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cotabato Provincial Office officially launched the province's 9th One Town, One Product (OTOP) Kiosk through a strategic partnership with The Berry Cafe on July 16, 2026. The initiative marks another milestone in DTI's continuing efforts to expand market opportunities for local entrepreneurs, product processors, and farmers by bringing Cotabato-made products closer to mainstream consumers.
The launch reinforces DTI's commitment to strengthening local enterprises through the OTOP Program by providing an accessible retail platform where locally produced goods can gain greater visibility, reach wider markets, and contribute to the province's economic development.
During the launching ceremony, DTI Cotabato Acting Provincial Director Robert A. Orfrecio emphasized that the newly established OTOP Kiosk represents more than just a retail outlet for local products; it is a strategic investment in the municipality's long-term vision of becoming a premier agro-industrial hub, where entrepreneurship, value-adding, and agricultural development converge to create sustainable economic opportunities for the people of M'lang.
The event was graced by M'lang Municipal Mayor Emmanuel Abonado, DVM, together with Councilors Albert Santos and Mandy Kim Dalumpines, whose presence underscored the strong partnership between the local government and DTI in advancing enterprise development and supporting homegrown businesses.
The selection of The Berry Cafe as the host establishment carries significant meaning for the municipality. Known for promoting products derived from M'lang's locally grown mulberriesโincluding jams, pastries, and beveragesโthe cafรฉ has become a symbol of local innovation and value-adding. Through its partnership with DTI, it now serves not only as a popular dining destination but also as a vibrant marketplace showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of Cotabato entrepreneurs.
A distinguishing feature of the newly launched OTOP Kiosk is the establishment of a CARP Corner, a dedicated display area for products of Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs). The initiative provides agrarian reform beneficiaries with greater market exposure by allowing their products to be showcased alongside established local brands, creating new opportunities for income generation and enterprise growth under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
The opening of the province's ninth OTOP Kiosk reflects DTI Cotabato's continuing commitment to creating sustainable market linkages for MSMEs, farmers, and community-based enterprises. By fostering strong partnerships with local governments and the private sector, the department continues to build inclusive market opportunities that strengthen local industries, promote value-added agriculture, and support the vision of a more competitive and resilient economy for Cotabato Province. #
