๐Œ๐€๐†๐’๐”๐Š๐Ž๐‹ โ€” a Story of Gratitude and Resilience

Along the shores of Wawa, Batangas, the Badjao community continues to live through poverty, discrimination, and limited opportunities. Many of them spend their days on the streets asking for alms under the heat of the sun, hoping that a small act of kindness from strangers will help them survive another day. Children are often seen walking barefoot along busy roads instead of experiencing the education and childhood they deserve, while parents continue to endure hardship just to provide food for their families.

Despite being judged and overlooked by society, the Badjao people continue to face each day with resilience and hope. Behind every outstretched hand is a story of sacrifice, survival, and the desire to live with dignity despite the inequalities they experience.

Behind their smiles and simple way of living lies the reality of inequality that many marginalized communities continue to experience. This is where Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities becomes important, promoting equal opportunities, fair treatment, and social inclusion regardless of oneโ€™s background or status in life.

Because true progress is not measured by the success of a few, but by how society uplifts and gives opportunities to communities that have long been unheard and overlooked.

PATHWAYS TO PROGRESS: Two Sides of a Single Road
"Progress is a journey, and resilience remains at the heart of the community."

When we look at new roads, bridges, and highways, we see modernization and economic growth. But does progress benefit everyone equally?

In our documentary film, we capture the raw, first-hand stories of Barangay Balagtas. From local transport operators to traffic enforcers and small business owners, we explore how development affects people in vastly different ways. What does infrastructure look like through the eyes of the community? For an Angkas driver, a wider road means better income and faster trips, but for a roadside vendor or a local business, it can mean a sudden drop in customers, an uptick in traffic accidents, and dangerous streets to cross.

Inspired by Sustainable Development Goal 9, this film serves as a reminder that meaningful development must always prioritize human lives, safety, and community well-being over just concrete structures.

"Real innovation doesn't just build faster roads but it builds safer and more inclusive paths for every human life it touches."

What fits easily in the palm of a hand often finds its way far beyond itโ€”into rivers, into seas, and eventually, into the quiet edges of communities like Sta. Rita Aplaya. Sa dokumentaryong ito, nais naming ipakita na poverty is still a living reality, even in places already considered developed.

Because behind every simple home is a story of survival, resilience, and hope that deserves to be heard.

This school year gave us countless sleepless nights, stressful exams, unexpected recitations, and deadlines that honestly felt never-ending. There were so many moments when we felt mentally and physically exhausted, but somehow, we still managed to survive every challenge that came our way. BSA life was not easy at all, and there were days when everything felt too overwhelming already, but finishing this school year still feels rewarding in its own way. Maybe we were all just trying to survive one requirement at a time, one quiz at a time, and one long week at a time, but at least we made it here.

Now, we can finally rest for a while and appreciate how far weโ€™ve come after everything we went through this year. The journey to becoming CPAs is still long, difficult, and full of pressure, but surviving this school year already says a lot about our strength and perseverance. BSA 1204 may not have had a perfect journey, but we all shared the same stress, exhaustion, and goal of getting through this year alive.๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ One school year finished, many more challenges to come, but for now, we finally get to breathe ๐Ÿ’ผโœจ

ALAB SAN JUAN: Advancing Livelihoods and Access to Better Opportunities in Barangay San Juan, Malvar, Batangas ๐Ÿ”ฅ
