🏳️‍🌈 HAPPENING NOW | 3rd & Final Reading of the Equality Desk Institutionalization Ordinance

Isang makasaysayang araw para sa Batangas City! 💙🌈

Ngayong araw ay isinasagawa ang 3rd and Final Reading ng Equality Desk Institutionalization Ordinance—isang mahalagang hakbang upang maging permanente, mas matatag, at mas accessible ang serbisyo para sa LGBTQIA+ community at iba pang marginalized sectors sa ating lungsod.

Taos-puso kaming nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng naging katuwang sa pag-abot ng milestone na ito:

💙 Mayor Mario “Marvey” Mariño – sa patuloy na suporta sa inclusive governance at human rights.

💙 Vice Mayor Atty. Alyssa Cruz – maraming salamat sa inyong pamumuno at suporta sa pagsusulong ng mga polisiyang nagtataguyod ng pagkakapantay-pantay at mabuting pamamahala.

💙 Congresswoman Beverly Dimacuha – maraming salamat sa inyong suporta sa pagtataguyod ng equality at inclusive development.

🌈 Hon. Councilor Claudette Ambida – Principal Author ng Ordinansa at tunay na Equality Champion, at isa sa mga co-creator ng Wagayway Equality Desk. Maraming salamat sa inyong walang sawang paninindigan para sa pagkakapantay-pantay.

💙 Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Batangas City – salamat sa inyong suporta at pakikiisa sa pagsusulong ng isang mas makatarungan at inklusibong Batangas.

💙 Espesyal na pasasalamat kay Hon. Councilor Aileen Montalbo, Chairperson, Committee on Women, Family, Gender and Development, sa pangunguna sa pagtalakay at pagsusulong ng panukalang ordinansa.

💙 Atty. RD Dimacuha – sa inyong tulong, suporta, at mahalagang ambag sa pagsusulong ng inisyatibang ito.

💙 Sir Erick Bok Sanohan – sa inyong suporta, koordinasyon, at mahalagang kontribusyon sa prosesong ito.

🌈 Maraming salamat sa aming Wagayway Equality Volunteers, community leaders, civil society organizations, Equality Partners, ACHIEVE, UNAIDS, at sa lahat ng indibidwal at organisasyong tumulong sa consultations, policy development, technical discussions, coordination, documentation, at advocacy. Ang tagumpay na ito ay bunga ng sama-samang pagkilos ng komunidad.

Hindi pa ito ang katapusan—ito ay simula pa lamang ng mas matatag na pagsusulong ng pantay na karapatan, inklusibong serbisyo, at ligtas na espasyo para sa lahat ng Batangueño.

Success is sweeter when it is shared.

Project L.I.G.T.A.S. (Learn. Inform. Get Tested. Act Safely.) became a successful outreach because of the united efforts of our partners, volunteers, and the community.

Special thanks to ANG NARS, led by President Sir Jonathan Rey Sulayao, and Medico De Santiago, under the leadership of Coordinator Sir Rhalf Tenorio, for making this meaningful initiative possible.

From free HIV testing by Espasyo led by Sir John Aries Almodjel, education outreach by Xaraya, referrals by Equality Desk with Ms. Ericka Smith, and RA 11166 discussion by IDEALS with Mx. Kirk Sison, every effort created real impact.

We also extend our gratitude to the MHO of Mataas na Kahoy for supporting this advocacy and helping us bring services closer to the community.

This is more than an outreach, it is a movement for safer, healthier, and stigma-free communities.
