Today, Bataan Youth Advocate Network - BAYAN joins the global community in observing the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.
As we remember the six million Jews and millions of others who were persecuted and murdered, we are reminded that the Holocaust was not only a result of violence, but of silence, misinformation, dehumanization, and the normalization of hate. These lessons remain deeply relevant today.
In the context of Philippine society, this commemoration invites us to reflect on our own realities—where historical distortion, social inequality, political polarization, and the marginalization of vulnerable sectors continue to challenge our democracy and shared humanity. When truth is weakened, when human rights are ignored, and when communities are divided by fear or prejudice, the risk of injustice grows.
Remembering the Holocaust calls on us, as Filipinos, to uphold truth, accountability, and compassion. It urges us to protect our collective memory, to listen to the voices of those who suffer, and to stand in solidarity with communities facing discrimination, violence, or exclusion—both here and beyond our borders.
As a people shaped by a history of struggle and resilience, may we choose to remember not only as an act of the past, but as a commitment to the present and future. Let us build a society rooted in dignity, justice, and care for one another—where “never again” is lived through our actions.
