BASILAN OFFICIALLY DECLARED ASG-FREE | Today marks a historic milestone for Basilan - a province that has faced many challenges but has now emerged victorious as an Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) Free province which is a testament to the resilience of its people and the unwavering commitment of national and local leaders working together for peace.

In a symbolic act of hope and reconciliation, Special Assistant to the President Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr, Secretary Carlito Galvez of OPAPRU, Governor Jim Salliman, law enforcement agencies and representatives from various government units and stakeholders gathered to release a white dove, a universal symbol of peace, purity and new beginnings. This collective act reminds everyone that peace is a shared journey, built through collaboration, resilience and hope.

𝐌𝐮𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐆𝐮𝐲𝐨, Acting Provincial Election Supervisor of Basilan, is calling for support for the COMELEC and urging commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F) and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) to support election officers to ensure peaceful and fair elections in Basilan. He emphasizes the collective responsibility to protect the integrity of the democratic process and the elections. He hopes that Basilan will serve as a model for the May 12, 2025, elections.
