YFP Banga successfully holds YOUTH FOR PEACE: Peace Building Training Program
To champion peace and harmony, Youth for Peace Banga successfully conducts its two-day YOUTH FOR PEACE: Peace Building Training Program with a pioneering theme, "Empowering Young Minds: Preparing Peace Builders for a Brighter Tomorrow," at the Blue Haven Resort, Banga, South Cotabato, January 11-12, 2025.
This was made possible through the collaboration of Youth for Peace - Banga Chapter, Kasilak Foundation, and Local Youth Development Council, which aims to conduct sessions and activities focusing on promoting peace and harmony that allows youth to effectively handle diverse perspectives and cultures within the community. Thus, the first day set sail with an interesting discussion given by Ms. Jenny N. Caban, YFP-Banga Vice President, focusing on the Basic Human Rights centering on the basic rights and laws that are inherent to humanity. She highlighted the importance of acknowledging its purpose and value to every individual.
"Lahat tayo ay may pantay-pantay na karapatan.Hindi porket mayaman ka mas marami kang karapatan... hindi porket mahirap ka ay limitado lang ang karapatan mo," - she stressed.
Moreover, Ms. Ma. Princess L. Galo, YFP-Banga President followed the fruitful discussion with her insightful topic that focuses on personal skills. On her topic, she explained the importance of stress management and provided ways of coping with stress.
"We cannot function well if we are stressed... it depends on us if we want to practice stress or to practice peace... if we embrace stress maperdi ta but if labanan naton ang stress and embrace peace, daog ta" she highlighted.
Hence, the knowledgeable and worthwhile sessions ended with an engaging talk by Mr. Julius Ceasar D. Maniego highlighting the basics of the Culture of Peace and its significance to the community. He discussed the importance of acknowledging every culture and emphasized that these cultures had roots that should be respected.
Meanwhile, to profoundly introduce the significance of the event, the participants were tested with an exciting and thrilling team-building activity that assesses their patience and unity towards their group, ending it with a solemn evaluation of their lessons learned throughout the activity.
Mark Christian Tabobo, a team leader of Blue Dove, expressed his joy and gratitude towards the facilitators of the activity, sharing their lessons learned in every obstacle they have to overcome.
"Madamo gd kita sang natun.an and we apply it to ourselves... sa aton school... sa community... and the team- building is very fun... we enjoyed it and siguro talaga kailangan ng diskarte ng team โ unity which is yun yung kulang kami...sa mga facilitators....siguro rate ko kayo 10 out of 10"
Furthermore, the second day set sail with interesting topics given by Ms. Marynn H. Beรฑas delving into Communication Skills and Mr. Jomie Garcia on Building Self - Esteem. In which it both emphasizes its importance in ourselves and presented ways of developing these skills.
The event ended with a closing program having all the participants awarded with certificates and prizes to recognize their efforts and participation.
