Hi, my name is Norie.

I created Hope Haven Subanen with a dream to build a safe space for rescued dogs while also supporting people in our community.

I want to build a dog shelter on a piece of land my parents left me. This has been on my heart for years, but I’ve always struggled with one thing. I don’t want to rely purely on donations. In a community where many families are also trying to make ends meet, I don’t feel right choosing animal welfare over people’s needs.

So I’m working on something that supports both.

My goal is to create livelihood through this advocacy by hiring rescuers, caretakers, feeders, and local builders.

At the same time, I plan to support our fisherfolks and farmers by buying their products, starting with dried fish danggit 🐟, and selling them online. The income will help sustain the shelter and the dogs we rescue.

Since 2022, we’ve already been rescuing and adopting dogs within our limited space. We’ve had to say no many times because we simply don’t have enough room.

With more dogs now being brought to the Baliangao LGU pound, I feel an even stronger push to start this.

This is just the beginning. I’ll be sharing our journey, the dogs we’ve rescued, and small steps as we build this together.
