Just completed a three-day skills training with women from the Baguio City Jail Female Dormitory 🪡🛍️

Our participants learned pattern-making and sewing to create tote bags using textile scraps. So, not only did this activity develop our participant’s practical sewing and crafting skills, it also showed them ways we can upcycle materials and reduce single-use waste.

That’s not all: you’ll be seeing more of these tote bags in re_haven’s distribution hubs in the future! We at re_haven want to make sure what our participants create in our activities become an actual part of the reuse-based system we are building with our Baguio communities ♻️

Our heartfelt thanks to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), especially the Baguio City Jail Female Dormitory under the leadership of JSINSP Erlinda Las-agen, Skills Enhancement Program Officer JO2 Joane Becya, our master trainer Jema Gamer of Modista LU, and all the participants whose enthusiasm and commitment made this activity a meaningful success. We also extend our appreciation to UPB-SILBI for their support.

Here’s to empowering women and strengthening communities through reuse and creativity! 🙌

Kasama pa rin natin ang komunidad! Building community-based reuse systems means our communities lead the way 🗺️🧭➡️

A big thank you to those who volunteered their time and effort in our most recent activity, where members of our pilot communities in Gibraltar and T. Alonzo, as well as youth and other stakeholders, not only evaluated our future campaign materials, but also began training to become ambassadors for our reuse & refill pilot project in Baguio. Exciting times ahead as we near our launch dates, and all made possible by people like you!

Sama-sama po tayo ulit sa susunod nating aktibidad. Let us work together in building a Baguio where communities can REFUSE single-use and choose to REUSE, refill, rethink, reduce, and reimagine!

Meet re_haven 💚

A community-powered reuse and refill initiative built to make sustainable living practical, accessible, and community-driven.

From refill systems and reusable containers to return networks and local partnerships, re_haven aims to reduce dependence on single-use packaging by building systems rooted in reuse.

The name comes from:
“re_” — 10r’s of CE | refuse, reduce, reuse, etc.
“haven” — a safe and supportive space

And a vision of making Baguio a haven for all again.

Welcome to re_haven 😌 Where we REFUSE single-use and choose to REUSE, refill, rethink, reduce, and reimagine.
