Our duty to care doesn't stop at the operating room doors! Last August 24, 2026, ORNAP-CAR officersโ€”Assistant Secretary Joannie Christine B. Rimorin Jo Anie , President Gianne Edolieston E. De Guzman Wency Giselle โ€”headed to DSWD Baguio to conduct an essential Seminar-Workshop on Immediate Wound Care and Bandaging for the Regional Haven for Women and Children. ๐Ÿฉนโœจ

Alongside practical skills training, our team shared a simple snack and conducted a gift-giving drive to bring smiles and comfort to the recipients.

True leadership and service extend far beyond clinical walls. On August 24, 2026, the periOperative Registered Nurses Association of the Philippines - Cordillera Administrative Region (ORNAP-CAR) demonstrated that its commitment to healing reaches deep into the heart of the local community.

Led by key chapter officersโ€”Assistant Secretary Joannie Christine B. Rimorin Jo Anie , President Gianne Edolieston E. Janiola Gianne Edolieston Edwin , Assistant Treasurer Rhoda A. Liwan Rhoda Abiasen Liwan , and Public Relations Officer Wency Giselle D. De Guzman Wency Giselle โ€”ORNAP-CAR conducted an empowering Seminar-Workshop on Immediate Wound Care and Bandaging for the residents and staff at the DSWD Regional Haven for Women and Children in Baguio City.

The initiative by Joannie Christine Rimorin (Resource Speaker and Project Head) , went beyond practical skill-building and first-aid education. In the spirit of holistic care, the officers also organized a gift-giving turnover and shared a simple snack with the recipients, bringing warmth, hope, and encouragement to the facility.

This outreach marks yet another inspiring milestone of heroism and leadership outside the operating theater. By equipping vulnerable sector shelters with essential healthcare skills and compassionate support, ORNAP-CAR reaffirms a powerful truth: when a community comes together with a shared purpose, nothing is impossible.

A total of 61 successful blood donations were achieved during the โ€œDugong Bayani Year 2: Blood Donation and Health Advocacy Campaignโ€ held on August 17 at Venus Parkview Hotel in celebration of National Heroes Month.

With the theme, โ€œOne Donation. One Community. Countless Lives Savedโ€, the community health event was organized by the periOperative Registered Nurses Association of the Philippines Inc. (ORNAP) Cordillera Administrative Region Chapter in collaboration with Venus Parkview Hotel and in partnership with Family Planning Organization of the Philippines Baguio Benguet Chapter, Northern Sanctuary MCC, Philippine Red Cross-Baguio Chapter and Project K*K.

In a letter to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, ORNAP Chapter Vice President Anna Liza Romero said that with their continuing mantra, โ€œBe a Hero in Someone Elseโ€™s Storyโ€, the activity aimed to promote voluntary blood donation, health awareness, community involvement and a culture of compassion and service.

She added that the activityโ€™s success reflected the generosity and strong spirit of volunteerism of the Baguio community.

Romero is also encouraging more individuals to participate in future blood donation drives and other health advocacy programs.-Gaby B. Keith
