🚑 Volunteers + Logistics + Information Technology = A Red Cross is Always First, Always Ready and Always There ⛑️
The RC143 Emergency Simulation Response that took place on May 31, 2024, at Subic Bay, Zambales was a comprehensive drill aimed at improving disaster preparedness and response capabilities. This exercise involved multiple agencies, including the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), local government units, and various emergency response teams.
The simulation was designed to test the readiness of the Subic Bay International Airport's emergency services, which include highly-trained firefighting and rescue teams equipped with advanced fire engines and ambulances. The event featured highly-trained firefighting and rescue teams, equipped with advanced fire engines and ambulances, demonstrating coordinated efforts in a simulated earthquake scenario.
The event also highlights the function of the RC143 Community during disaster that they play a crucial role in disaster situations by preparing, responding, and recovering from emergencies. They, the PRC 143 Volunteers, are trained to implement disaster risk reduction strategies, enhance community preparedness, and provide immediate humanitarian aid such as rescue, relief, and emergency shelter. Additionally, they support long-term recovery efforts, including restoring and improving shelter, livelihoods, and community facilities to build safer and more resilient communities.
Students from the Grade 12 STEM class, joined the RCY143 Emergency Simulation Exercise,together with the Red Cross Baguio Chapter, at the PRC Subic Logistics and Training Center, Subic, Zambales. The event was joined by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies ( IFRC), President-Kate Forbes, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman- Richard Gordon, and Philippine Red Cross (PRC) General Secretary- Dr. Gwendolyn Pang.
