The HISTORY of the GSD JESUS CARES FOUNDATION, INC (GJCFI)
The journey of the GSD Jesus Cares Foundation, Inc. (GJCFI) began when God placed a burden in the hearts of Pastor Gudi Songgadan Dogaong (GSD) and his wife, Jocelyn Singwey, lovingly known as Teacher Jo. Their desire was not only to lead people to Christ and help them grow in their faith, but also to meet the educational and financial needs of children from financially challenged families.
As the pastor and pastor's wife of Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church in Baguio City, they faithfully sought to demonstrate His love through acts of compassion. In God's perfect plan, He brought two elementary school children, Kenneth and Jean, into their lives and church family. They became the first children Pastor Gudi and Teacher Jo supported, cared for, and mentored for six years.
Pastor Gudi and Teacher Jo had long desired to formally register a charitable foundation however, before that dream could become a reality, Pastor Gudi went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2015.
Following the homegoing of Pastor Gudi S. Dogaong on February 17, 2015, Teacher Jo carried not only the grief of losing her husband but also the responsibility of continuing the ministry and vision God had entrusted to them. For this reason, she planned to register a foundation.
She chose the name Jesus Cares Foundation—a constant reminder that every act of compassion flows from the loving heart of Christ. She also planned to include Pastor Gudi's initials, GSD, not to exalt a man, but to honor a faithful servant of God whose life and ministry helped inspire this work.
When Teacher Jo shared this vision with the young people whom Pastor Gudi and she had discipled during their college years at Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church, they immediately embraced it as their own. These were young people whom they had prayed for, encouraged, mentored, and watched grow in their faith. By God's grace, they had already graduated from college and were beginning their professional careers. Their willingness to stand with Teacher Jo and help carry the vision became one of God's greatest encouragements during one of the most difficult seasons of her life.
These young professionals became the founding incorporators of the Foundation. They are:
1. Pastor Russken Dogaong – first son of Ptr Gudi and Teacher Jo, a licensed Electronics and Communications Engineer and the Pastor of Holy Ghost Baptist Church.
2. Atty. Azril Dogaong – 2nd son of Ptr Gudi and Teacher Jo, and a corporate lawyer.
3. Atty. Rouelli Gift Bolide-Dogaong – wife of Pastor Russken S. Dogaong, Pastor’s Wife of Holy Ghost Baptist Church, and a lawyer at the DPWH–CAR.
4. Rose Ann A. Rivera – University Instructor at Benguet State University.
5. Mariam Awingan Salio-an Sibayan – Teacher at Pinget Elementary School under the Department of Education (DepEd).
6. Dimples Lee Evans Tadeo – Registered Nurse based in Australia.
7. Joy Langgaman Galatis – Licensed Professional Teacher and entrepreneur.
8. Hazel Ann M. Arizabal-Gubat – Pastor's wife of MBBE–La Trinidad.
9. Sherry May M. Arizabal – Assistant Principal of Metropolitan Baguio Christian Academy.
On September 28, 2015, the GSD JESUS CARES Foundation Inc. was officially registered with the SEC. In God's perfect timing, Pastor Sergio J. Nolasco returned from Riverside, California to the Philippines to serve as Pastor of Metropolitan Bible Baptist Ekklesia, of Camp 7, Baguio City, following Pastor Gudi's homegoing, so he dedicated the foundation, Inc. to the Lord.
The Foundation has never been about honoring a person or building a legacy. From the very beginning, it has been about sharing the love of Jesus Christ and His saving grace through compassion and service. By God's grace, the GSD Jesus Cares Foundation, Inc. will continue to bring hope, show Christ's love, and share the Gospel with every person God allows us to serve, faithfully living out its motto: " Serving God by Serving Others. "
