SFYN Bago FRESH Hosts the 1st Leg of World Disco Soup Day 2026 πŸͺ©

In the heart of the Panaad sa Negros Festival, the Slow Food Youth Network of Bago proudly launches the first leg of World Disco Soup Day 2026 through a Curated Five-Course β€œDinner for a Cause”, a unique initiative that brings a 5-star-inspired dining experience at an accessible cost, all in support of local farmers and the youth movement for Good, Clean, and Fair Food for All.

Making this event more meaningful with the dishes being prepared and served by YOUTH volunteers themselves, using locally sourced ingredients, proving that the Bagonhon and Negrense youth are active changemakers in building sustainable food systems.

This initiative is made possible in close coordination with the Slow Food Bago Community, who helped curate the menu, alongside the full support of the City Government of Bago, through the Bago City Tourism Affairs Office and the leadership of Hon. Mayor Mayette Javellana.

And of courseβ€”it wouldn’t be a Disco Soup without the disco. 🎢
The Filipino way comes alive with a live band, karaoke, and Slow Drinks crafted by our youth baristas featuring the crowd favorite, the Kanlaon Cooler, inspired by Mt. Kanlaon.

As we celebrate tonight, we are grateful to have welcomed over 50 guests enjoying good food, great music, and a shared purpose: turning awareness into action. This is more than a dinner. It’s a movementβ€”served on every plate.

HEY, HEY, HEY, IT'S APRIL's BIRTHDAY!

Today we celebrate a VERY SPECIAL day. A Gawad Bagonhon awardee and a national awardee as an Outstanding Tourism Student of the Philippines, she co-founded and currently leads the community of the Slow Food Youth Bago movement. She is more than just a student; she is the epitome of today's youth mover, something that Bago City is really proud of.

May you never run out of energy, ideas, and enthusiasm to optimistically work on the causes that you believe in. You are a treasure worth keeping and a blessing to all of the peers that you work with. May you enjoy ALL of the GOOD, CLEAN, and FAIR FOOD in the world!

Happy Birthday, April Ann, SFY Bago's Community Director and Co-Founder, Ang Hardworking Ball of Sunshine ng Bago City!

'MALAPIT SA BITUKA'

The livelihoods of our farmers and fisherfolks are at stake in the ongoing conflict and worsening climate conditions. When the producers of food themselves are food-poor, then something needs to be changed. On Filipino Food Month, let us support initiatives that protect and empower the hands that feed the nation.

Did you know that what we often throw away, like squash peels, potato skins, and vegetable trimmings, can still be transformed into delicious food? That’s what World Disco Soup Day is all about: rethinking waste, celebrating creativity, and taking action for a more sustainable food system.

As the world’s largest collective action against food waste, this global movement reminds us that small, mindful choices can create a BIG impact.
