The Special Operations Force (SOF) of Coast Guard Station Northern Negros Occidental (CGS-NNOC), under the leadership of Station Commander CDR Artzell M. Anacan, PCG, conducted a Rescue Boat Operation and Maintenance Training for members of VMA CAGERS under the 1301st Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron (CGAS).โฃ

The training provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in the operation, handling, and maintenance of rescue boats, enhancing their capability to respond effectively during maritime emergencies and disaster situations.โฃ

The activity was initiated through the efforts of AUX CAPT Remedios Johanna S. Vargas, PCGA, Director Auxiliary Squadron (DAS) of the 1301st CGAS, as part of the continuing commitment of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary to support the Philippine Coast Guard in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and search and rescue operations.โฃ

As the search and rescue volunteer force of the 1301st CGAS, VMA CAGERS plays a significant role in augmenting the operational capabilities of the Philippine Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary during emergencies and disasters. Through specialized training opportunities such as this, members continue to develop the competence, discipline, and readiness necessary to serve communities in times of need.โฃ

VMA CAGERS extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Marijoy Gaduyon for sharing her valuable insights and expertise on Psychological First Aid (PFA) during the VMA CAGERS Advanced Leadership Camp.

Psychological First Aid is an essential component of disaster response as it helps individuals cope with stress, fear, and emotional distress following emergencies and critical incidents. By providing compassionate support and practical assistance, responders can help affected individuals regain a sense of safety, calmness, and hope during difficult situations.

On june 1-5 the Civic Action Group for Emergency Response Services (CAGERS), under the guidance of the Community Extension Development (CED), actively participated in Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Luisa Medel National High School, Sum-ag Elementary School, and Sum-ag National High School. Through volunteerism, teamwork, and community service, members dedicated their time and effort to cleaning, repairing, and improving school facilities in preparation for the opening of classes.

This initiative highlights the commitment of CAGERS to serving the community beyond emergency response, promoting the spirit of bayanihan and contributing to a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for students and educators.

The VMA CAGERS joined forces with the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Red Cross in a successful rescue operation involving a capsized motorbanca along the Guimaras Strait near the shores of Bago City on May 16, 2026.

At around 1833H, CAGERS Adviser AUX LT Martin Dale Yogore, PCGA, received a call from fellow rescuers requesting immediate assistance for the ongoing maritime emergency. With instruction from 1301st Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron Director AUX CAPT RJ S. Vargas, the group immediately mobilized its floating asset and proceeded to Bantayan, Bago City to augment the response operations.

Upon arrival, rescue efforts led by the Philippine Coast Guard, utilizing motorbancas and a tugboat, successfully rescued all 11 passengers, including two minors. VMA CAGERS personnel remained on standby in Bantayan and assisted in supporting the rescued individuals after retrieval.
