‎𝐌𝐀𝐘 we never invalidate someone’s feelings, dismiss their struggles, or assume we know what they are going through. Instead, 𝐌𝐀𝐘 we choose empathy over judgment, patience over pressure, and understanding over silence. A simple check-in, a listening ear, or a kind word can mean more than we realize to someone who is silently struggling.

‎Let’s continue to create a space where people feel safe to express what they feel without fear of being judged or misunderstood.

Negros Peer Action Summit 2026 🩷💜

Last April 11, 2026, the STIWNU Peer Facilitators Guild attended the highly anticipated Negros Peer Action Summit 2026 held at the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos. The event gathered peer facilitators from different cities across Negros Occidental, creating a space for connection, learning, and collaboration.

With the theme “Digital Minds, Human Connection: Creating Safe Space through Peer Support in Modern Communities,” the summit highlighted the importance of balancing online safety and real-life relationships. The program featured insightful messages from Mr. Thomas Javellana, RGC, and Mr. Jan Iver Dema-ala, followed by an engaging lecture from Ms. Aileen Tranquilo, PhD, RGC, LPT as the guest speaker on digital safe spaces.

As the speaker said, “sometimes people don’t need advice; they just need to be heard and validated.” There are moments when people aren’t looking for solutions; they simply want someone to understand them without judgment. Just being present and listening can mean more than offering a lecture when what they really need is comfort.

The participants were able to deepen their understanding through an open forum and formally welcome new members during the Introduction Rites. The event was also filled with fun and meaningful moments through interactive games that strengthened camaraderie among peer facilitators.

Overall, the summit was a success, reminding everyone that “It starts with us.” May we continue to use our voices to support others and carry the lessons we’ve learned into our communities.

Centered on the theme, “Digital Minds, Human Connections: Creating Safe Spaces through Peer Support in Modern Communities,” this annual event is spearheaded by the Negros Occidental Peer Facilitator Association, aiming for meaningful impact by strengthening our role as advocates for peer support and empowerment.

𝗣𝗙𝗚 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘀𝗚 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗿𝘂𝗽𝗮𝘆: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲, 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱

The Mental Health Awareness Seminar entitled “Paghinirupay: Strength in Struggle, Care for the Mind” was a successful initiative organized and hosted by the Peer Facilitators Guild (PFG) and the Programmers' Guild (PsG), in partnership with Pocari Sweat.

Held at the School of Basic Education (SBE) Building Library, on February 11, 2026. The event featured a short discussion by Ms. April Rose B. Hechanova-Espinosa as guest speaker invited by Pocari Sweat, followed by the main discussion on mental health facilitated by Ms. Althea Mariz Pomada of the University Guidance Services Center.

Ms. Pomada then followed the discussion with a Circle of Love activity, where attendees wrote positive affirmations for one another.
