𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

DOT-NIR Regional Director Crisanta Marlene Rodriguez reported that the Negros Island Region recorded a total of 2,745,480 tourist arrivals in 2025, generating an estimated Php 27.6 billion in tourism revenue. Of this total, 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 accounted for the highest share in the region with 𝟗𝟒𝟐,𝟕𝟗𝟏 visitors, contributing approximately Php 𝟏𝟑.𝟗 billion in estimated tourism receipts.

Tourism receipts refer to the total expenditures of visitors on accommodation, transportation, food and beverages, tours, shopping, entertainment, and other tourism-related services.

Governor Manuel "Chaco" Sagarbarria, together with Provincial Tourism Board Executive Director Woodrow Maquiling Jr., welcomed the positive development and expressed gratitude for the recognition given by the tourism department.

He emphasized that the achievement reflects the strong collaboration among local government units, tourism stakeholders, private businesses, and local communities in advancing the province's tourism industry.

“Strengthening friendships, cultural ties, and opportunities for collaboration.”

The Negros Oriental Hotel Resort and Restaurant Association (NOHRRA) warmly welcomed the visit of Consul Wang Jinjun and Vice Consul Tao Minyue of the Chinese Consulate General in Cebu, during their recent visit to Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

The visit highlighted meaningful discussions on strengthening people-to-people exchanges, economic cooperation, tourism development, and the continued partnership between China and Negros Oriental.

The delegation’s itinerary included:
• Breakfast meeting at Why Not Restaurant

• Visit to Holy Cross High School(HCHS), the oldest Chinese school in the province founded on July 15, 1928, with discussions alongside School Director Fr. Garry Fuentebella, School Principal Mr. Arthur Macias and the School BOT for future collaboration

• Lunch meeting with Governor Chaco Sagarbarria, members of the Provincial Board, City Mayor Chiquiting Sagarbarria and city council representatives

• Visit to Dumaguete Agape Christian Chinese Academy (DACCA) and meeting with Principal Jan Karen Kitane and the BOT

• A short city tour showcasing the beauty and culture of Dumaguete City - Dumaguete Boulevard, National Museum, Dumaguete Belfry, Adorno

• Dinner fellowship with the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Edward Du, the NOCCI BOT, and Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce President Greg Uymatiao and BOT members

The delegation also conducted ocular visits to several premier resorts in Dauin, including Salaya Beach Houses, Bongo Bongo Divers, and Atmosphere Resorts & Spa. Special thanks to Atmosphere Resorts & Spa for graciously hosting the luncheon. 😍
