Day 1
Today marks the first of three days of strategic planning for Rapha Ministries. It is a valuable time to come together, reflect on where we have been, evaluate our programs and services, and prayerfully look ahead.
As we plan for the future, we want to remain focused on our Vision and Mission, while continually learning, improving, and striving for greater excellence in all we do.
Our desire is to serve the children and their families entrusted to us with integrity, quality, love and holistic care.

As we enter the last quarter of this year, we took time to pause, reflect, and evaluate our programs and services.
For us, evaluation is not simply about looking at numbers or checking whether activities were completed. It is about asking important questions: Are we truly meeting the needs of the children and families we serve? What has worked well? What can we improve? And how can we continue to provide care that is meaningful, effective, and rooted in dignity and respect?
A very important part of this process is listening to our clients. Their experiences, feedback, thoughts, and suggestions help us understand what matters most to them and where we can grow.
Our team also took time to reflect on the different programs and services throughout the year — from our Drop-in Center and feeding programs to youth activities, family development programs, spiritual formation, and our various health and community initiatives.
We are grateful for all that God has allowed us to accomplish this year, but we also recognize that there is always room to learn, improve, and do better.
As we look ahead, our desire remains the same: to be a place of refuge where children are safe, valued, respected, and given opportunities to grow and flourish — and where families receive care and support with dignity.

Last Saturday, September 12, we once again had the privilege of providing milk, prenatal vitamins, rice, vegetables, and fruits to the expecting mothers in our Hermanatics program.
At Rapha Ministries, we believe that caring for people means caring for the whole person. We want these mothers to know that they are valued, supported, and not alone as they prepare to welcome their little ones into the world. By providing nutritious food, prenatal care, check-ups, and necessary laboratory tests, we can help give both mother and baby a healthier start.
We are so grateful to Tulong Lasalyano, whose generous support makes this monthly care possible. Their partnership allows us to extend our care beyond the walls of Rapha and walk alongside these mothers throughout their pregnancy.
Thank you, Tulong Lasalyano Foundation for helping us care for these mothers and their precious babies with dignity, compassion, and love.
Together, we can make a difference even before a child takes their first breath.

Saturdays are Mighty Kids days!
Every Saturday, our Mighty Kids — children in Grades 1–3 — spend the morning and early afternoon at Rapha, enjoying a day filled with fun, friendship, learning and lots of good food.
Their day begins with a hearty breakfast and a time of devotion, before the fun gets going!
There’s plenty of playtime, crafting, snacks and milk, learning activities and exercise. And before they head home, they share another nourishing meal together.
But Mighty Kids is about much more than a fun Saturday.
For many of these children at risk, Rapha is a place of refuge and safety — a place where they are welcomed, valued, loved and cared for.
The regularity of coming every Saturday brings stability and gives them something positive to look forward to throughout the week.
It is a joy to see them grow, build friendships, learn new things, discover their gifts and simply enjoy being children in a safe and caring environment.
Every Saturday matters. Every child matters.

Every Saturday, around 20–25 young people gather for our Bible Club.
The Bible Club is a one-year program where they journey through Scripture using chronological Bible storytelling. Rather than looking at Bible stories as isolated events, this approach helps them see how the different parts of Scripture fit together as one connected story of God’s redemption — from creation, through the history of His people, and ultimately to Christ.
Week by week, they are not only learning Bible stories, but discovering who God is, understanding His plan of salvation, and seeing how His Word speaks into their own lives.
Their Saturdays are also a special time of fellowship and practical care. They start the day with a hearty breakfast, spend time learning, talking, sharing and playing together, and end with a nourishing lunch. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them not only to grow in God’s Word, but also to build friendships, enjoy one another’s company, and experience care in a warm and welcoming environment.

The other day, after weeks of rain and very limited opportunities for outdoor play, the children finally got to enjoy some sunshine—and they made the most of it!
They played volleyball to their hearts’ content, running, jumping, cheering and laughing together.
It was such a joy to see them being active, happy and carefree, simply enjoying a wonderful time of sports and friendship.

Participation of our clients is a vital part of our ministry. We believe that giving children the opportunity to express their thoughts, opinions, and experiences is an important form of empowerment and helps them develop a sense of ownership.
At Rapha Ministries, children of all ages have a voice. Their thoughts and opinions are valued, heard and validated.
Today, the children in our After School Program were given the opportunity to give honest feedback about the programs and activities they have experienced over the past months. Their answers gave us both encouragement and valuable insights into the things they enjoy — as well as the areas where they sometimes struggle.
Here are some of their statements:

“My favorite activity in the past months was Family Day. My whole family joined. I also love rollerblading. And I like the devotions because it is there that I hear stories about God.”

“I liked it when the staff set up the small swimming pool for us at Rapha. I also like the devotions, and I was happy that my family could join Family Day. Sometimes I struggle with the chore of cleaning the table after lunch.”

“Playtime is my favorite part. What I don’t like is when the other kids are noisy during storytelling time. And I struggle with some of the crafts, especially when I need to cut out shapes.”

“I’m happy that I receive a birthday cake and birthday gift at Rapha. I also like that we can drink milk here. We are taught to wash our hands before we eat, and I like the food, especially the vegetables. We also have chores at Rapha. Sometimes my chore of sweeping is challenging.”

We are grateful for their honesty.
When children are given a voice, they learn that their thoughts matter — and that they have an important part to play in shaping their own community.
