Daily Bible Reading & Devotion
August 24, 2026 | MONDAY

Let us continue to grow in our knowledge of God through the faithful reading and meditation of His Word. May we come before Scripture with humble hearts, seeking to know God, embrace His truth, and live according to His will.

Today’s Bible Reading: Genesis 16
Today’s Devotion: Matthew 6:1-4

As you read and reflect, use the guide questions provided to help you meditate on God’s Word and consider how His truth applies to your life.

This Week’s Goal:

7. Mamuhay na ang Diyos at ang Kanyang kaharian ang unang priority, seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness sa bawat bahagi ng buhay.

Children’s Catechism | August 22,2026
Week 4

A joyful and meaningful close to our August theme with our Children of the Covenant.

This week, the children were reminded that loving God is shown through trusting Him, listening to His Word, and walking in obedience.

We are grateful to the Lord for every opportunity to teach His Word, for our children who continue to learn, and for our teachers and volunteers who faithfully serve.

May the Lord, by His grace, continue to grow these young hearts in the knowledge and love of Christ.

Soli Deo Gloria.

WEEKLY WRAP-UP
August 22, 2026 | SATURDAY

Let us reflect and take time to look back on what God has revealed to us throughout this week. May our hearts be truly transformed as we learn to live under the lordship and reign of King Jesus

This Week’s Goal:

1. Maunawaan ang pangunahing mensahe ng Sermon on the Mount at kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng pagiging mamamayan ng kaharian ni Cristo.

WEEK 4 | Children’s Catechism

How can you glorify God?
Answer: By loving Him and doing what He commands.

This Saturday, we come to the final week of our August theme as we continue teaching our children from God’s Word.

Throughout the past weeks, we have been reminded of these foundational truths:

Week 1: Who made you?
God.

Week 2: What else did God make?
God made all things.

Week 3: Why did God make you and all things?
For His own glory.

Week 4: How can you glorify God?
By loving Him and doing what He commands.

As we close this month, we want our children to see that our lives are not our own. We belong to God because He is our Creator and Lord. We were created for His glory, and His Word teaches us how we are to live.

We also want them to understand that obedience is not a way to earn God’s love or salvation. We obey because God has first shown His grace toward us. Our good works are not the basis of our salvation. Rather, they are the fruit of a heart that has been changed by God’s grace.

Our hope, therefore, is not that our children will simply become well-behaved children, but that by God’s grace they would come to know Christ, trust in Him, love His Word, and grow in faithful obedience to Him.

Memory Verse:

John 14:15 (MBB)

Let us continue to pray for our Children of the Covenant, our teachers, and volunteers, that the Lord would faithfully use this ministry to plant His Word in the hearts of these children.

Soli Deo Gloria.

Mateo 5:33-42

A Different Way to Respond

Natural sa atin ang gumanti.

Kapag sinaktan tayo, gusto nating gumanti.

Kapag ininsulto tayo, gusto nating makabawi.

But Jesus teaches His disciples a radically different way.
“Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’”

Be people of truth.

Then He teaches them not to seek personal revenge. Instead of always demanding our rights, Jesus calls His disciples to willingly surrender certain rights for the sake of love.

The context is personal insult and retaliation.
Jesus is dealing with our desire for revenge.

And when we look at Christ, we see this perfectly.
He was falsely accused.
He was mocked.
He was beaten.
He was rejected.
He was crucified.
Yet He did not retaliate.

Peter reminds us that when Christ suffered, He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly.
That is the heart of Christian meekness.

Hindi ibig sabihin na weak tayo.
It means we trust God enough that we don't have to take revenge into our own hands.

Sometimes the most Christlike thing we can do is to surrender our right to get even.

We can choose to respond to evil with good because we trust the God who judges rightly.

Mateo 5:21-32

Jesus Goes to the Heart

Pero in Matthew 5, Jesus goes deeper.

He shows that God's Law is not merely concerned with what we do externally. God looks at the heart.

They reveal what is happening inside us.

This is why Jesus' teaching is so searching.
We can look religious on the outside while our hearts are far from God.

We can attend church, serve in ministry, sing worship songs, teach others, and still struggle with hidden sins that nobody else sees.

And this is where Matthew 5 becomes both convicting and Gospel-centered.

Jesus is showing us the true standard of God's righteousness. He is not simply saying, “Try harder.”

He is showing us that we need a righteousness greater than our own.

Only Jesus perfectly fulfilled God's Law. He was perfectly pure in heart. He never hated anyone. He never lusted. He never sinned.
And yet, the sinless Christ went to the cross for sinful people like us.

Therefore, when the Word exposes our hearts, we don't run away from Christ. We run to Christ.

At the same time, grace does not give us permission to make peace with our sin.

Kung may kasalanan na kailangan nating patayin, we take it seriously. We remove what feeds it. We repent. We fight it. We depend on the Holy Spirit.
Because Christ did not save us so that we could remain comfortable in our sin.

He saved us so that we might belong to Him and be transformed by His grace.

Mateo 5:13

Christ Came to Fulfill the Law

Sinabi ni Jesus, “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world.”

Napakalaking statement nito. Hindi sinabi ni Jesus na try to become salt and light. Sinabi Niya, “You are.”

“I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”

Hindi dumating si Jesus para sirain ang Law and the Prophets. Dumating Siya para tuparin ang mga ito.

This is important because sometimes we think that Christianity means simply following a new set of rules. But the Gospel tells us something deeper. The Law reveals God's righteous standard, and at the same time, it exposes our inability to meet that standard perfectly.
Jesus did what we could never do.

He perfectly obeyed God's Law. He fulfilled what the Law and Prophets pointed toward. At sa krus, dinala Niya ang penalty that sinners like us deserve.

It is, “I belong to Christ, and His righteousness is my hope.”

And because Christ has given us His righteousness, we now desire to live differently.

Our good works are not the foundation of our salvation. They are the fruit of God's grace.
Kaya let your light shine not so people will praise you, but “that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father.”
