Nakaabot sa 47°C ang heat index sa Butuan City karong adlawa. Delikado kini nga mahimong hinungdan sa heat cramps, heat exhaustion, ug heat stroke kon dugay nga ma-expose sa init sa adlaw.

OCSS–Pollution Control Unit and CSU Main - League of Campus Organizations Conducts 1st Quarter Cleanup at Ampayon Creek in Celebration of World Water Day 2026.

In observance of World Water Day 2026 an initiative of the United Nations that underscores the importance of sustainable freshwater resource management, the Office of the Campus Safety and Security (OCSS) – Pollution Control Unit, in partnership with the CSU Main – League of Campus Organizations, implemented a cleanup activity at Ampayon Creek this March 19, 2026. The initiative mobilized personnel, student organizations, and volunteers in the systematic removal of solid wastes and debris, thereby contributing to the rehabilitation of the creek and the mitigation of localized water pollution, while simultaneously fostering stakeholder collaboration and environmental responsibility.

The OCSS – Pollution Control Unit expresses its sincere appreciation to all participating student organizations for their active engagement and valuable contribution to the successful implementation of the activity.

All collected wastes will undergo weighing and documentation through a Waste Analysis and Characterization Study (WACS) to determine waste composition, volume, and potential sources, providing a scientific basis for improving solid waste management strategies. This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean Water and Sanitation , while also advancing SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering multi-sectoral collaboration in environmental protection and sustainability efforts.

𝘾𝙎𝙐-𝙈𝘼𝙄𝙉 𝘾𝘼𝙈𝙋𝙐𝙎 | 𝙀𝘾𝙊𝙎𝙈𝘼𝙍𝙏 𝙋𝘼𝘾𝙆𝘼𝙂𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙋𝙍𝙄𝙈𝙀𝙍

Caraga State University is taking a bold step toward sustainability by transitioning into an ECOSMART University under the LIKHA Agenda and Hiraya 28. This initiative strengthens our commitment to responsible consumption, sustainable production, and environmental protection in line with SDG 12 and SDG 15.

As a regional hub for food innovation, CSU is leading by example, setting clear standards for sustainable food packaging and enforcing the No Plastic Policy. Under Section 42.5(g) of the 2025 Student Handbook, littering, including violations of this policy, is a minor offense, highlighting that sustainability is a shared responsibility for the entire campus community.

This Second Semester of Academic Year 2025 to 2026 marks Phase I: university wide education, awareness campaigns, release of the CSU Packaging Primer, and promotion of practical, eco friendly alternatives to single use plastics.

CSU is not just adapting to change. CSU is leading it, setting a standard for a cleaner, resilient, and sustainable campus, for the region, the nation, and beyond.
