The PNG Tourism Industry Association (PNGTIA) represents tourism operators throughout Papua New Guinea, providing a platform and voice for the common interests and concerns of operators within the industry. Legally incorporated on 24 January 2001 under the Associations Incorporation Act, it is the only professional tourism organization in Papua New Guinea that brings together all sectors of the in
dustry. A non-profit organization, the PNGTIA was established primarily to pursue and influence policies, programs and legislations that are responsive to the needs of the industry as a whole. The PNGTIA is governed by an Executive Committee of members, elected by member delegates at its Annual General Meeting. To provide a body which represents the collective interests of its members with whom the government and other stakeholders can consult.
2. To promote, encourage and stimulate the tourism industry in Papua New Guinea and its associated services for and amongst its members.
3. To enhance the sustainable growth and expansion of the tourism industry in Papua New Guinea and its associated services with all industry stakeholders, domestically and internationally.
4. To engage in the collection, dissemination and exchange of information and the promotion of advocacy and awareness on the industry and its associated services
Corporate Membership
Applies to
a) Commercial tourism operators which handle over 100 bona-fide tourists a year
b) Tourism industry associations with 5 or more members
c) Airlines
Applicants must be a financial member of the appropriate sector association. Where no sector association exists, this point is mute, however, once an appropriate sector association is established, TIA member must apply and be accepted for membership of that association. Each corporate member is entitled to one (1) vote at an annual general meeting and is eligible for election as an office-bearer. More than one representative of each Corporate Member may attend meetings and raise issues for deliberation. Associate Membership
Applies to
a) Commercial tourism operators which handle less than 100 bona-fide tourists a year
b) Tourism industry associations with less than 5 members
c) Tourism related organisations
Applicants must be a financial member of the appropriate sector association. Each Association Member is not entitled to vote at an annual general meeting and is in eligible for election as an office-bearer. More than one representative of each Member may attend meetings and raise issues for deliberation. Annual membership is K200. All applications will be screened by the TIA Executive and successful applicants will be informed accordingly.
