This month, the Clean Generation Movement was privileged to host another inspiring mentoring session facilitated by The Voice Inc. (TVI), featuring Ms. Samantha Kuman as our guest mentor.

Samantha shared a deeply personal and inspiring journey from becoming a young mother while studying at university, to graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, and navigating the challenges of building a career with resilience and purpose.

She reflected on how her heritage and connection to her home community continue to shape her work, particularly in addressing the impacts of extractive industries on local environments and communities.

A key highlight of the session was her experience in a Graduate Development Program, where she learned that technical knowledge alone is not enough. She encouraged participants to embrace values that create lasting impact:

These values became the foundation of her career in environmental monitoring, baseline studies, safeguarding, and national environmental initiatives. Samantha also shared that career setbacks became opportunities for new growth and leadership.

One of her most powerful reminders came from Romans 8:28:
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him."

She encouraged participants to remain grounded in our purpose, continue adding value wherever we serve, and never lose sight of who we are.

Her closing message resonated with everyone in the room:

"Stay grounded in your Melanesian identity. Know who you are as a Papua New Guinean, and wherever life takes you, strive to be a person of value."

A heartfelt thank you to Samantha Kuman for investing her time, wisdom, and experiences in our young leaders πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬

Congratulations to our University of Natural Resources and Environment (UNRE) CleanGen team, led by CFL Coordinator Bethany Tapoli, for successfully delivering the UNRE CleanGen Mentorship Workshop on the 21st of June.

The workshop brought together 41 participants, including six who joined online via Microsoft Teams, with strong participation from students and leaders of the Provincial Associations. Participants explored the foundations of the CleanGen Movement, its history, leadership roles, and the many opportunities available through the movement.

We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed, including guest speaker Mr. Alex Nugi, UNRE Farm Manager, for sharing his leadership journey.

Congratulations again to the UNRE team! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬

On the 18th of June we hosted our first CleanGen Monthly Mentoring Session for the year. The session brought together 30 Center for Leadership (CFL) student leaders and CleanGen members from our five partner universities who joined virtually.

The session was led by Obeth Singol, TVI Programs Coordinator, and featured an inspiring keynote from Serena Sasingian, a co-founder of The Voice Inc, spoke on β€œBuilding Resilient Leadership”.

Serena shared powerful reflections from her personal and professional journey, emphasizing the importance of knowing your roots, developing strong values, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth.

From overcoming early struggles to navigating career transitions and personal loss, her story reminded participants that resilience is built through action, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose.

On Sunday the 14th of June our University of Papua New Guinea CleanGen Campus leaders gathered at the DreamHub for their Handover Takeover meeting!

This important gathering allows for the outgoing UPNG CleanGen leaders to formally handover their roles to their mentees who would take on leadership in 2026 onwards. The time is also spent inducting the new leaders on their roles and helping them better understand the movement and The Voice Inc. (TVI).

We thank our outgoing leaders for their invaluable service and welcome our 2026 UPNG CleanGen leaders! We look forward to an exciting year of collaboration and nation-building πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬
