๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’™ Happy World Childrenโ€™s Day!

Today we celebrate the rights, voices and dreams of every child in Papua New Guinea and around the world.

Children deserve to grow up safe, healthy, protected and heard. When we invest in their wellbeing, we invest in a brighter future for our families, our communities, and our nation.

Letโ€™s stand together to:
โœ… Promote education and equal opportunities
โœ… Protect children from violence and online harm
โœ… Support their mental health and wellbeing
โœ… Create safe homes, safe schools and safe communities
โœ… Listen to their ideas and empower them to lead

Every child has potential. Every child has a voice.
And every child deserves a chance to thrive.

๐Ÿ’™ Happy World Childrenโ€™s Day! Letโ€™s make every day a day we stand for children.

๐Ÿ“ Kalapa Village, Abau District, Central Province.

Recently the Disaster Ready Project conducted an introduction to climate change, & Participatory Vulnerability Capacity Assessment (PVCA) training for the Community Based Disaster Risk Management Committee (DRMCs).
The activity was implementing PVCA for communities to develop community action plans (CAP).
Focused on supporting DRMCs in conducting PVCA and re-affirm and update their community action plans or develop their community action plans.
In the action plans, key actions identified were centred around mitigating disaster risks climate change induced risks that are associated with common hazards within their communities.
Community members were able to identify social and protection issues in their communities that affect their daily roles and responsibilities, increase their level of risks.
Kalapa village actively participated with youths at the forefront in conducting PVCA for their community to develop key actions that can be implemented at the community level to reduce the impact of disasters and climate change.
Using their local language was an advantage as they understood well and responded correctly.

๐ŸŒ Protecting Our Future: The Importance of Immunization ๐ŸŒŸ

Every child deserves a healthy start in life and one of the most powerful ways to ensure that is through immunization.

Vaccines protect children from deadly and preventable diseases like measles, polio, and whooping cough. When children are immunized, theyโ€™re not only protected themselves they also help keep their families and communities safe. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

At ChildFund, we work alongside local health partners to make sure every child, even in remote areas, has access to life-saving vaccines. Together, we can build healthier communities and a stronger future for every child. ๐Ÿ’š

Immunize today, protect tomorrow.

๐Ÿ’š Building Healthier Communities Together

ChildFund PNG recently conducted a Health Training Workshop for community health workers and volunteers โ€” empowering them with the skills and knowledge to better support families and children in their local areas.

The training focused on preventive health care, hygiene, nutrition, and early detection of illnesses, helping communities take proactive steps toward healthier and safer lives.

At ChildFund PNG, we believe that strong communities start with strong health systems and that begins with investing in people.

Together, weโ€™re creating lasting change one training, one community, one life at a time. ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒ International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction | October 13 ๐ŸŒ

Today we recognise the importance of being disaster ready.

In Papua New Guinea, communities are often the first to face the impacts of floods, landslides, droughts, and earthquakes. Being prepared saves lives, protects livelihoods, and ensures that children and families can recover faster when disasters strike.

ChildFund PNG works alongside communities to strengthen disaster awareness, preparedness, and response empowering local leaders, youth, and families with the knowledge and tools to act quickly and safely.

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ Together, we can build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities.

ChildFund PNG Strengthens Partnership with the Office of Censorship to Advance Digital Safety in Papua New Guinea
ChildFund Papua New Guinea, through the 1-Tok Kaunselin Helpim Lain (toll-free number 7150 8000), has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting digital safety and protecting individuals from online abuse and technology-facilitated violence by strengthening collaboration with the Office of Censorship.
Last week, ChildFund PNGโ€™s Program Manager for Gender & Protection, Ms. Pamela Krisimpa, and Country Director, Ms. Doreen Fernando, met with Chief Censor Mr. Jim Abani and his senior management team to present a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and discuss opportunities for deeper partnership.
The meeting successfully identified key areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening protection systems and ensuring that survivors of online harm receive timely and coordinated support. The proposed MoU outlines joint actions.
This collaboration marks an important step toward creating a safer and more responsible digital environment for children, young people, and families across Papua New Guinea, combining survivor support, prevention, and effective regulation to address the growing challenges of online abuse.

โœจ From PNG to the World Stage! โœจ๐Ÿ‰

ChildFund Rugby is proud to support opportunities that empower young women through sport. This year, two inspiring young women Sai Bikukure from Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province, and Claudia Kariwa from Lae, Morobe Province travelled all the way to Sunderland, England, to be part of the Womenโ€™s Rugby World Cup! ๐ŸŒ

Both Sai and Claudia are active players in their provinces and passionate advocates for sport as a pathway for young women. Within their communities, they have led awareness and outreach activities, encouraging other young women to explore the opportunities that rugby and sport can bring on and off the field.

In Sunderland, they joined other young women from around the globe, united by their shared love of rugby and their commitment to making a difference through sport. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š

Their journey is about more than rugby itโ€™s about leadership, confidence, and breaking barriers. By representing PNG on the global stage, Sai and Claudia are proving that when young women are given opportunities, they inspire entire communities.
