HAGARA PRIMARY SCHOOL TO RESUME CLASSES

Following Tuesday’s unfortunate incident at Hagara Primary School, we are pleased to advise that normal classes will resume tomorrow (Friday 31 July 2026) onwards.

The matter stemmed from an assault involving a teacher and a parent. In a meeting today between Parents and Citizens, staffs and the NCD Education Team, FAS Education Services had issued an ultimatum for the matter to be resolved by 4:06pm today by getting the concerned parent behind bars to avoid an indefinite closure of the school.

Through swift intervention by *MKA Chairman & Deputy Governor Hon. Russell Simon Wavik, *Mirigini Ward Member Hon. Graeme Nao Boge, and our concerned community leaders, the accused parent voluntarily surrendered to Police today.

The matter was then presented to FAS Education Secretary Ms. Kutna Bepwick, by MKA Chairman, Mirigini Member and concerned community leaders; who acknowledged the community’s quick action and confirmed that classes will continue as normal.

We commend our leaders, parents, and community members for working together to put the welfare of our children first. Education must continue, and we must resolve issues through proper channels.

Let us all support a safe and respectful learning environment at Hagara PS.

It was a successful 3-Day Ward Recorders Training on the National Ward Recording System for data collection.

The training was Facilitated by the Department of Provincial & Local-Level Government Affairs - DPLLLG in Partnership with our Motu Koita Assembly.

This training has equipped Ward Recorders with new digital skills to improve data accuracy, transparency, and service delivery at the ward level. It will also enable us to accurately plan and make decisions.

I would like to thank our Member Hon Graemme Nao Boge, our Mirigini steering committee and Motu Koita Assembly for the opportunity and trust to be part of this 3-Day Pilot Program.

Your leadership and support make community level development possible.

We will now be rolling out a two weeks data collection activity using the New digital recording app NWRS in our Mirigini electorate commencing next week.

I will need all your support to ensure our family's and community are informed about this important data collection exercise.

Let's all work together for a better Mirigini and Motu Koita 🙏💯

Many negative comments are spread by PNGans regarding their flag being displayed at the FIFA World Cup podium!

And that is because they dont understand!

Its because we play the sport in our country! And FIFA funds it! We're a member of the FIFA Community!

Participation at the World Cup is very tight and stringent. And was PNG given a chance? Yes! At the Oceania Cup. Winner automatically qualifies for the World Cup.

New Zealand has been the powerhouse in the Oceania Region recently, guaranting their participation at the FIFA World Cup!

To those cry babies ~ despite FIFA funding over the last many decades, our domestic competition needs boosting!

URGENT PUBLIC NOTICE: HAGARA PRIMARY SCHOOL - CHILDREN SENT HOME, NO WATER, K100K DEBT

To all parents, BoG, of Education PNG, Teachers, Poreporena Village Motu Koita community, and National Government + Education Minister:

After Saturday night’s drinking at the Head Teacher’s residence, I conducted a full inspection of Hagara Primary staff housing, school land, and school operations.

My findings are shocking and totally wrong:

#1. NO TEACHERS = CHILDREN SENT HOME

Students arrive at 8am but sent back at 10am-12pm because there are no teachers. Only 3 teachers reside on site. 5+ houses occupied illegally by non-teachers + outsiders. No teachers living here = no teachers present to teach.

2. WATER CRISIS + K100K DEBT

Illegal settlement built on school land is using school water. Result: Outstanding water bill over K100,000. No proper water for students or remaining teachers. School cannot operate normally when water is cut due to debt.

3. LAND + BOUNDARY BREACH

White line on map = official school boundary. Huge portion of Education land. Inside: illegal structures, pig pens, scrap metal, broken fences, open access roads. This is an informal settlement on school property, not teacher housing.

THE IMPACT ON OUR CHILDREN

This is why Hagara has suffered for far too long:
- Children come 8am → sent home 10am-12pm daily. Losing 2-3 hours of learning
- Teachers late or absent because they don’t live on site
- No water, no supervision, no security
- Drinking + illegal activities next to classrooms

Our children deserve better. They deserve full school hours + water + teachers present.

ACTION - URGENT BOARD MEETING THIS FRIDAY

Chairman Ken Leza has called a BoG meeting this Friday. I will attend with this inspection report + all evidence.

We will demand 5 things:

1. SCHOOL HOURS: Restore full teaching hours. No more 10am/12pm send-home

2. Safety: Stop drinking + illegal activities in staff housing

3. Housing Audit: Evict 30+ illegal occupants. Return houses to legal teaching staff. All makeshift structures must be removed

4. Water: Separate water meter + stop illegal use. Clear K100k debt plan with Eda Ranu

5. Protect Land: Land/boundary audit + remove illegal structures from school land

CALL TO NATIONAL GOVERNMENT + EDUCATION MINISTER + of Education PNG:

This matter has gone on for far too long. Hagara Primary is a government school on government land. The National Government + Education Department must step in now. Investigate, audit, and enforce the law to protect our children’s education and school assets.

To our teachers: You deserve safe housing + water on site.
To our students: You deserve full school hours + teachers present every day.
To Poreporena Village Motu Koita: This is school land + school water. Let’s protect it for our children.

Hagara children’s education + basic services are non-negotiable. Something must be done Friday.

PHOTO EVIDENCE: 8 photos attached - Ground inspection + Satellite map. White line = school boundary.

NO MORE SILENCE. FOR FAR TOO LONG.
