A community initiative by UPNG NGI Sharks Alumni

Recent unrest has left 64 households affected and 368 people displaced, including 111 children under 15. Families are currently taking refuge in church care centers as we unite to rebuild their lives.

We’re collecting urgently needed items:

Last Thursday marked a special moment as the UPNG NGI Sharks pioneers (legends) had a meet and greet with our current NGI Sharks team members at the UPNG campus. This was more than just an introduction—it was about sharing our legacy, values, and the unbreakable brotherhood that defines the NGI Sharks.

The Sharks legends took the time to reflect on the club’s history, reminding our juniors that being part of this team is not just about rugby, but about balancing studies, standing up for each other, and building a support system that lasts beyond university life.

We emphasized the importance of:
● Prioritizing education while excelling on the field
● Supporting each other in both victories and struggles
● Holding onto values and principles that will shape their future
● Staying united not just in sports, but in everyday life

The meet and greet was filled with encouragement, motivation, and a challenge—to uphold the legacy and continue the tradition of brotherhood and excellence. The Sharks Legends will always be here as big brothers, providing guidance and support every step of the way.

The UPNG NGI Sharks Legends continue to stand behind our present UPNG NGI Sharks Team, ensuring that the bond of brotherhood, support, and shared values remains strong both on and off the field.

In the spirit of unity and mentorship, we proudly presented two rugby balls, symbolizing not just a game but the legacy we have built together. Our Alumni President Mr. Paul Lokie delivered an inspiring message, reminding our young brothers of the importance of teamwork, discipline, and academic excellence—the same principles that kept us strong during our years at UPNG and throughout our professional journeys.

Our commitment doesn’t end here! The Sharks Legends are excited to continue with the support, and welcoming them into our broader initiatives—from rugby to community impact projects across the country. As we paid our respects, we were reminded that Sir Michael’s vision for a united, independent, and prosperous Papua New Guinea lives on—not just in words, but in the actions we take every day.

Prime Minister James Marape delivered a powerful message, calling on every single Papua New Guinean to play their part in shaping a better future. Leadership is not just about titles—it’s about taking responsibility in our homes, communities, and workplaces. Change begins with us.

Today, the UPNG NGI SHARKS ALUMNI INC ASSOCIATION had the privilege of hosting a Meet & Greet session with the dedicated NCDC City Wardens. This initiative, made possible through the support of Hon. Powes Parkop, Governor of NCD, aimed to strengthen collaboration in health awareness and law & order in our city.

👥 What We Did Today:
✅ Shared key health information to promote well-being.
✅ Discussed important laws to enhance public safety.
✅ Strengthened partnerships for a cleaner and safer Port Moresby.
