WeCARe Foundation commemorated International Women's Day 2026

We were delighted to be invited by Stop & Shop and Taylor Pacific Limited to support and celebrate International Women's Day yesterday, March 6th, 2026, here at Waigani Central.

Imagine a gender-equal world, free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination - a world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where differences are valued and celebrated. We were joined by the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary's Family and Sexual Violence Unit (FSVU) to mark this very important day.

📌7th Batch Sewing Training Graduation

On November 6th, a total of 31 women graduated from the Taurama Barracks Women’s Association after successfully completing a seven week sewing training program. Each participant received a Certificate of Participation from the WeCARe Foundation.

The training commenced on August 18th and concluded with the graduation ceremony on November 6th. In addition to sewing more than three styles of meri blouses, participants also learned valuable skills such as soap making, dishwashing paste production, and handcrafts.

All participants were wives of servicemen from Taurama Barracks, including seven young girls. A particularly inspiring story was that of a participant who, despite having an amputated leg and being a single mother of three, completed the training. During the graduation, she shared how the WeCARe Foundation had supported her with food, clothing, and now life skills that will enable her to earn an income and support her family.

The graduation ceremony was attended by representatives from the Digicel Foundation, the Department of Community Development and Religion, various departments of the NCDC, and the founder and patron of the WeCARe Foundation.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our major sponsor, the Digicel Foundation, for their unwavering support. To date, we have empowered over 150 women across the city and look forward to reaching even more in the years to come.

✨ WeCARe Foundation Outreach – Taking Help Beyond Borders! ✨

This week has been a truly rewarding one for us at WeCARe Foundation, as we extended our support to schools across three provinces in Papua New Guinea.

📚✏️👓 Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and partners, we were able to donate reading books, stationery, dictionaries, reading glasses, clothing, and more to the following schools:

📍 September 2nd – Mt. Hagen ➡️ Pambal Primary School, Walemasa Elementary and Det Primary School (Mendi, Southern Highlands Province)
📍 September 3rd – Wewak ➡️ Walis Island Primary School (East Sepik Province)
📍 September 4th – Bougainville ➡️ Murua Primary School (South Bougainville), Paruparu Primary School (Central Bougainville), and Saposa Primary School (North Bougainville)

This was made possible under the JTF 50 Operation Planti Balus, a special initiative by the PNG Defence Force, in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, Royal New Zealand Air Force, and French Air Force to commemorate PNG’s 50th Independence. 🇵🇬

🙏 A huge thank you to our amazing sponsors for making this possible:

Digicel PNG Foundation

Bundaberg Central Rotary Club (Australia)

RH Trading Limited

Lions Club of Pambula-Merimbula (Australia)

Together, we are bridging the gap for our rural schools and helping to build brighter futures for children in some of the most remote parts of PNG. 💙

WeCARe prioritize Early detection on eye and ear screenings are crucial for young children at early childhood learning centers. Undiagnosed vision or hearing problems can significantly impact a child's ability to learn and develop essential skills. By identifying potential issues early, educators and parents can provide targeted support, ensuring children receive the resources they need to thrive.

*Why Eye Screening Matters*

- Undetected vision problems can lead to difficulties with reading, writing, and overall academic performance.
- Early detection enables timely interventions, reducing the risk of long-term learning challenges.
- Regular eye screenings can identify conditions such as amblyopia, strabismus, or refractive errors, allowing for prompt treatment.

*The Importance of Ear Screening*

- Hearing loss or impairments can affect language development, social skills, and academic progress.
- Early identification of hearing issues enables targeted interventions, such as speech therapy or auditory support.
- Regular ear screenings can detect conditions like otitis media or hearing loss, allowing for timely medical intervention.

*Identifying Learning Disabilities*

- Early childhood learning centers play a vital role in recognizing potential learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, or ADHD.
- Timely identification enables educators to develop tailored learning plans, providing individualized support.
- By acknowledging and addressing learning disabilities, we can foster a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.

*Benefits of Early Detection*

- Enhanced academic performance and confidence
- Targeted support and interventions
- Improved social and emotional development
- Better equipped educators and parents to provide individualized care

By prioritizing eye and ear screenings, and identifying potential learning disabilities, early childhood learning centers can set the stage for a child's long-term success and well-being.
Thank you Callan Inclusive Education team for the partnership for the worthy course. 👏👏👏

🎒📚 Supplies Delivered to Paripa ECLC, Kagua – Thank You to Our Amazing Partners! 🙏

We are thrilled to share that Paripa Early Childhood Learning Center in Kagua, Southern Highlands Province has just received a generous donation of stationery supplies, school uniforms, and first aid materials, proudly delivered by the WeCARe Foundation. ✨

This vital support was made possible through the generosity of our valued partners:
✅ Bundaberg Central Rotary Club (Australia)
✅ La Salle Technical Secondary School
✅ And the ongoing support of the Digicel Foundation ❤️❤🤍🤍

Paripa ECLC is a very remote school in the Highlands, where access to basic learning materials is a daily challenge. These donations will go a long way in enhancing the learning environment and supporting the health and wellbeing of young children in the community.

Margaret Mirupasi, Founder of the school, expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, saying this support will make a real difference in the lives of the children and families they serve.

We at WeCARe Foundation also extend our deepest gratitude to the Digicel Foundation for their continued partnership. Without their support, reaching rural and isolated communities like Paripa would not be possible. Thank you for believing in our mission. 💛

Together, we are changing lives – one child, one school, one community at a time.

The WeCARe Foundation sincerely thanks Kina Bank’s Assurance Department for their generous donation of school materials and stationery supplies to the Glynn's Orphan and Early Childhood Learning Centre in Morata 2, NCD.

This kind gesture and connection were made possible through the legacy and initiative of the late Mr. Ben Mursau, a beloved colleague and mentor whose spirit of giving continues to inspire.

On behalf of the WeCARe Foundation and the Glynn’s ECLC community, thank you, Barbara and team, for your kindness and support. Your contribution makes a lasting difference in the lives of our children and marginalized families. We look forward to continuing this partnership in future initiatives. 💚

Medical Supplies Delivered to Walis Island, East Sepik Province!

On Thursday, 17th July 2025, community health workers on Walis Island, a rural island community in East Sepik Province, received seven boxes of much-needed medical supplies, generously donated by the Bundaberg Central Rotary Club in Australia. 💉🩺

This generous contribution was facilitated by the WeCARe Foundation under our Special Needs Program, which supports vulnerable and marginalized communities across Papua New Guinea.

The donation comes at a crucial time, as the Walis Island community is actively working on the construction of an upgraded Community Health Centre that will serve not only their own population but also nearby island communities. The project is well underway, driven entirely by local commitment and community spirit. 🏥🌴

We extend our deepest thanks to:
✅ Bundaberg Central Rotary Club – for your kindness, compassion, and continued support
✅ The people of Walis Island – for your inspiring dedication to improving healthcare access
✅ All our partners and supporters behind the scenes – your help made this possible!

This is what partnership and people-powered development looks like. Together, we are making a lasting impact. 💚
