๐Ÿ“… Sunday, 9 August 2026 | ๐ŸŽฏ Theme: โ€œUnlock Your Potentialโ€

We wrapped up another inspiring evening at Success Synergy Toastmasters PNG, and what a meeting it was! ๐ŸŒŸ

We were honoured to welcome Area Director Frank Manue Jr. as our distinguished guest, alongside up to nine guests who joined us online.

Area Director Frank commended our club for its innovative use of breakout rooms, the effective use of the sandwich feedback method by our evaluators, and the strong leadership demonstrated throughout the meeting.

๐Ÿ‘ Amazing effort from everyone!

Five members progressed through their Toastmasters Pathways projects and delivered prepared speeches. It was also fantastic to see our members step confidently into their meeting roles as we divided into two breakout rooms, giving speakers more opportunities to present, receive evaluations, and develop their skills.

๐Ÿ“š Better Speaker Series Training

Our Club Secretary, Toastmaster June Dibela, delivered an outstanding training session on Impromptu Speaking as part of the Better Speaker Series, while also completing her Level 4 project.

June shared a practical five-step formula to help us respond with confidence when put on the spot:

Listen โ†’ Pause โ†’ Confirm โ†’ Tell โ†’ End

She also introduced four useful response strategies and wrapped up with three powerful reminders:

๐Ÿ’ช Be Confident.
๐ŸŽฏ Be Brief.
๐Ÿ’ฌ Be Sincere.

๐ŸŽค Table Topics

Our Table Topics session was expertly facilitated by VPE Norah Christine Aura, with Area Director Frank leading the way as our first speaker and setting an inspiring tone for the session.

Toastmaster Naomi Stanley courageously volunteered to take on a Table Topic, followed by our Immediate Past President, Linda Kapani, who brought the session to a strong close.

The questions challenged us to reflect on fear, hidden struggles, failure, courage and how we can unlock our potential.

๐ŸŒฑ Growth Happens When We Step Forward

And yes โ€” like any live meeting, it wasn't perfect. We experienced network challenges, a few mistakes, and moments when nerves got the better of us in the spotlight.

But that's exactly what makes Toastmasters so valuable.

It is a safe and supportive space where we can try, stumble, learn, receive feedback, and grow without judgment. Every mistake is an opportunity to improve, and every meeting is another chance to build the confidence and skills we can carry into the real world.

A huge thank you to all our members who took on roles, delivered speeches, evaluated, participated in Table Topics, and supported one another throughout the evening. ๐Ÿ‘

And to all our guests who joined us online โ€” we hope you gained something valuable from the experience and that we'll see you again at our next meeting on Sunday, 23 August 2026! ๐ŸŽ‰

We continue to learn, grow, lead and unlock our potential โ€” together. ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ“šโœจ Toastmasters Word of the Month: SAGA โœจ๐Ÿ“š

This month, Toastmasters International brings us the word SAGA.

Saga (noun) โ€” a long story of events or experiences, often involving challenges, adventures, and memorable moments.

At Success Synergy Toastmasters, weโ€™re excited to explore this word and add it to our vocabulary!

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Try using โ€œSAGAโ€ in a sentence:

โ€ข โ€œMy Toastmasters journey has been an incredible saga of learning, growth, and confidence.โ€

โ€ข โ€œWhat started as a simple idea turned into a saga of challenges and unexpected successes.โ€

โ€ข โ€œHer journey to becoming a confident speaker is a remarkable saga of courage and perseverance.โ€

โ€ข โ€œThe project became a saga of deadlines, teamwork, challenges, and ultimately success.โ€

โ€ข โ€œEvery person has a unique saga, filled with experiences that shape who they become.โ€

๐Ÿ’ก Challenge for our members:
Try using SAGA in your conversations, speeches, and everyday communication this month!

๐Ÿ“– August's Word of the Month is saga!

Every speaker has a story to tell. How will you use saga in a sentence this month?

Drop it in the comments! โฌ‡๏ธ

๐ŸŒŸ Friday Member Spotlight ๐ŸŒŸ

Meet Toastmaster Violet Wangi ๐Ÿ’™

At Success Synergy Toastmasters Club, we love celebrating the journeys of our members because every journey begins with one courageous step.

Violet joined our club on 1stJune, and although she's only been a member for a short time, Toastmasters has already changed the way she sees communication.

Here's what Violet shared with us:

"The best investment you can make is an investment in yourself."

"When I joined Toastmasters, I thought I would mainly improve my public speaking. But one of the biggest lessons I've learnt so far has actually been about listening."

"Taking on my first meeting role as Ah-Counter made me realise that in my everyday life, both personally and professionally, I often listen just enough to respond, instead of truly listening to understand. I'm usually quick to speak or offer my opinion without always giving others the time and space to express themselves."

"That experience reminded me to be more patient, more considerate, and to become a better listener."

"I'm really enjoying the journey so far. Everyone has been so supportive and encouraging, and I'm excited to continue learning and growing."

Thank you, Violet, for sharing your story and reminding us that Toastmasters isn't just about becoming a better speaker but it's about becoming a better communicator, leader, and listener.

We're proud to be part of your journey and can't wait to see you continue to grow.

One Club. One Vision. Growing Together.

๐Ÿ’ฌ What has been your biggest lesson since joining Toastmasters? We'd love to hear your story in the comments.

โ€œToastmasters is the lab of leadership,โ€ says Zappala, who has been a club and District officer. โ€œItโ€™s where you learn the skills that you can use out in the real world. Itโ€™s where you learn to get familiar with being uncomfortable.โ€

โ€œOne of the things I understand from my students about Toastmasters is that it can really build your confidence and clarity, and it also connects you to a community,โ€ Rattan says. โ€œIf youโ€™re in an early leadership position and all that wonderful work you did learning how to present effectively starts to get interrupted by nerves and anxiety and stress, you have a community you can reach out to and say, โ€˜I could really use a coffee catch-up with a few people.โ€™ Thatโ€™s an invaluable asset.โ€

Stepping into a leadership role comes with many challenges, but being aware in advance of the problems that can ariseโ€”and knowing how you will address themโ€”goes a long way in making the transition smoother and easier to handle.

๐Ÿ‘Œ An excellent read for those of you who are starting out in a leadership role!
