BEPA’s aims and objectives are:
• To work towards steady growth of Bilum / handicraft trade and industry
• To economically empower women artisans in Papua New Guinea by encouraging the adoption of Bilum handicraft production as their profession
• To strive towards enhancing the quality and productivity of Bilum handicrafts
• To promote the cultural heritage and innovation of PNG Bilum to the
local and wider international audience through trade
BEPA’s functions are:
• Organise seminars and workshops on various topics relevant to strengthening the Bilum handicraft trade and industry
• Organise exhibitions and events to promote Bilum and PNG handicraft products
• Activate and increase contacts with national and international organisations for the growth of Bilum handicraft trade and industry
• Explore and manage trade markets for Bilum handicraft products locally and internationally for the benefit of it’s members
• Publication of promotion website, social media marketing, news, printed and digital sales and marketing materials, member’ directory and other relevant materials to promote Bilum handicraft trade and industry
• Management and implementation of training programmes for the benefit of it’s members
• Documentation and dissemination of information regarding the heritage and innovation of Bilum handicraft trade and industry
