THE ROAD THAT MADE ME - MY JOURNEY INTO MINISTRY
This Buang road, the Front Road you see here, is the road that shaped my life.
I started my Evangelism Ministry as ELC Buang Seket Sunday School Coordinator and Lomalom Congregation Bible Study Master, walking up and down this very road.
In those days, 2005-2010, Moniau-Gabansis back road was not open. The only back road was a bush track we called _Kaip_.
My journey:
I would get up early in the morning as early as 5 or 6am, cook kaukau on fire and pack it in my K2 market bag. I would walk 5-6 hours from my village Lomalom down to Mumeng maus rot. By 11am or 12pm, I would arrive, dusty and tired, and catch a PMV either to Bulolo or Lae for ministry work.
Sometimes the reverse — I would catch PMV from Bulolo, get off at Mumeng, and walk the same 5-6 hours UP this road back to my village Lomalom in the night.
It was a struggle. It was a challenge. But that struggle made me who I am today.
Behind all of this was my mother. She was the inspiring woman behind my ministry. When I had no shoes, no money, no PMV fare, she prayed for me and cooked that kaukau for the road. I owe it to her. I thank God for giving me a mother who embraced me in serving Anutu.
Today, looking at this road, I can say: This Buang road is the journey that shaped my life into mission work.
From walking this road to Chairman of Buang Community in POM & KBC Chairman, A Bible School teacher. From K2 bag to God's glory.
