These cancers affect many individuals and families worldwide, including here in Papua New Guinea.

As healthcare professionals and community members, we must:

🌟 Exciting Update from the St. Jude’s Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Course – PNG 2025! 🌟

I am pleased to share that I was asked to present Modules 1 and 2 – Nursing Assessment and Pain Management – during our live sessions:

Module 1: 20/01/2026
Module 2: 24/02/2026

Both sessions were attended by 13 enthusiastic participants from various Provincial Health Authority (PHA) hospitals across Papua New Guinea.

A heartfelt thank you to our mentors for their invaluable guidance:

Lorena Segovia Weber, BSN, CPHON – Program Coordinator, St. Jude Global Nursing, Global Pediatric Medicine, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Jayne Harrison – Solid Tumour Nurse Consultant, Children’s Cancer Centre, Royal Children’s Hospital, Flemington Road, Parkville VIC 3052

Special thanks to Port Moresby General Hospital (PMGH) for their continued institutional support, which makes these learning opportunities possible.

It was inspiring to engage with nurses committed to strengthening paediatric oncology care in PNG. Their dedication and enthusiasm for learning are truly commendable.

Together, we are building capacity and improving care for children with cancer across the country.
