From Classroom to Cutting-Edge: Slade Peter Innovates Power Monitoring System!

Congratulations to Slade Peter, one of our remarkable final year students from the Unitech Western Highlands Association! After transitioning from a primary school teacher to an electrical engineering student here at Unitech, he has successfully completed his final year project—a GSM-based smart system designed to help PNG Power detect tampering with power meters and EasiPay systems across PNG. This innovative project aims to enhance billing accuracy and prevent unauthorized consumption, potentially revolutionizing power monitoring in our country. Remarkably, he submitted this impressive project at exactly 4:44 PM—a perfect moment symbolizing his precision and dedication.

Slade's journey from teaching young minds to tackling complex engineering problems is truly inspiring. His project not only showcases his technical skills but also his commitment to contributing to the development of PNG. By detecting tampering and ensuring accurate billing, this system has the potential to save resources, improve efficiency, and support the integrity of the power supply network.

We applaud Slade for his innovative thinking and perseverance. His story is a powerful reminder that with determination and hard work, nothing is impossible.

Throwback to the First Year Orientation and Opening of 2024!☺️

Traditionally, our association's orientation event involved an outing to the beach where students and staff could bond and relax. However, in 2024, under the visionary leadership of our President, Leslie Benny, we embarked on a new journey by hosting our first-ever on-campus orientation ceremony.

This momentous event featured inspiring preachers and our esteemed senior students as invited guests, who came to provide guidance and blessings for the upcoming year. Their presence and wisdom helped strengthen our community and set a positive tone for the year 2024.

We are grateful for the leadership and innovation that made this event possible and look forward to many more successful and enriching gatherings.
