Collaboration Invitation: Morobe Development Foundation Inc. (MDF)
Morobe Development Foundation Inc. (MDF) welcomes expressions of interest from research institutions, universities, and organizations based in Norway and other European countries to collaborate on joint research and community development projects.
Our key areas of focus include:
Environmental and climate change research
Sustainable agriculture and food security
Water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH)
Renewable and solar energy initiatives
Waste and resource management
Conservation and biodiversity monitoring
Education and capacity building
Public health and community wellbeing
Social development projects, including gender-based violence prevention, women’s empowerment, livelihood improvement, and governance and election awareness
Key Research and Conservation Sites
1. Kamiali Wildlife Management Area (KWMA)
Located along Papua New Guinea’s northern coastline, the Kamiali Wildlife Management Area is a unique ecological zone recognized by the Government of Papua New Guinea and the IUCN. The area hosts exceptional biodiversity, including endangered Leatherback turtle nesting grounds, diverse flora and fauna, and potential new or undiscovered species. This site offers significant opportunities for conservation biology, marine ecology, and climate resilience research.
2. Giu Wiwo Watershed, Waria Valley
The Giu Wiwo Watershed in the Waria Valley contains pristine virgin rainforest ecosystems supporting numerous bird species, echidnas, and diverse flora and fauna. This site presents excellent opportunities for ecological studies, forest carbon assessments, watershed management, and community-based conservation projects.
