Job's Children
Have you ever wondered why God allowed Job's children to be killed?
We so often hear the story of Job and carried away with his unwavering commitment to God in the face of tragedy.
And we pay little attention to his children.
When you read Job 1:1-5, you will discover that Job was a perfect and upright and one that feared God. He has seven sons and three daughters. He was also rich and wealthy. Yet the most important duty he loved so much was a duty of priest for his household.
In verse 5 it's say Job offers burnt offering for each of his children every morning. Meaning ten sheeps have to be killed every morning for burnt offerings. And he does that continually according to the scripture.
It is interesting to note that while Job was doing what he could to raise his children to follow his footsteps in fearing God, his children were doing the opposite.
We see in verse 4, his children were feasting, drinking and partying from house to house. There wasn't any club at that time so they were doing it from house to house.
Not one of them at that time thought about following the footsteps of his or her father in fearing God and eschew evil. They all took for granted the father's blessings. They did not have respect for their father and his God.
The sad thing about these children is that they all died while drinking and partying in their elder brother's house at the expense of their old man's commitment (Job1:13, 18-19). They never new this day was coming. It caught them unprepared but it was too late. Every single one of them died in that natural disaster.
Had these children or at least one of them followed his father's footsteps, I believe he/she would have inherited his/her father's wealth. Unfortunately ten other children that God gave inplace of then inherited their fathers wealth.
Young people, do not go drinking, partying and living reckless life from the little money your parents are giving you. They don't come that easy. They are blessings from their God for their hardwork. And you dont understand how they wish everyday you could live a descent life from the little they give you. Respect your parents and their God and you will have long life.
God bless you all.
