Potato Park - Parque de la Papa

Our lands are a center of potato origin and diversity, currently one of the four most important crops on earth, produced and preserved throughout the centuries by us, the Andean people. The five Andean communities of Potato Park preserve hundreds of varieties of native potato (around 1'300) as well as the knowledge and ancient technology related to the cultivation and management of our agricultural landscape. We offer you the chance to look at a huge biodiversity of native potatoes (different colors, forms) and know more about their cultural importance in Andean communities. You will have also the opportunity to buy local products (the, soaps, natural medicines, etc.), enjoy tasty food in our restaurant, be cautivated by Andean highlands with beautiful lakes like kinsa qocha, among other treasures that the Potato Park reserves for you. Our agro-ecotourism is an important way to generate direct income to our families and communities. This money is for example invested in children education. It also encourages us to preserves our biodiversity through environmentally sustainable agriculture, which is the main element to ensure our food sovereignty.
