The first time I went to Peru to drink Ayahuasca I had a terrible experience at a retreat owing to my lack of knowledge about Shamanism and Ayahuasca - I had no idea that there was good and bad Shamans working with the vine. I knew I needed spiritual cleansing so I decided to try and find a local authentic healer, I searched all over Iquitos but nothing felt safe enough. I decided to call it a day
and return home to England. On my way back to the hotel my friend insisted that we try one more tour vendor. We found one which he liked and paid for but I was still in two minds because of my previous experience so we went back to the hotel. That night I had a dream that told me to go so the next day I went with him. During my first ceremony with Master Juan in his small wooden temple which is situated next to his family home, I instantly felt at ease once hearing his first Icaro. I had my first positive experience and visions of light with the divine vine. Towards the end Master Juan asked me to sit in the chair opposite him where he asked me if I had visions and to explain them to him via the interpreter who was with us at the time so he could explain the meaning of my visions to me. This was new to me as the previous 21 ceremonies were not explained to me. He then performed a chupa on me in which he placed his lips on my stomach and started sucking out my sickness which in turn he purged into a bucket adjacent to him. I returned home healed and thankful for the help Master Juan and the divine light gave me. 1 year later I returned to Peru to drink again with Master Juan. Following some visions during one of my Ayahuasca ceremonies with him I decided to open a retreat here, offering Ayahuasca experiences to people who wanted to come to Peru and experience Ayahuasca’s healing benefits within an environment which is safe, modest, natural and true to the Peruvian way of life. I envisioned a small intimate retreat where people can feel at home, one of the family and relaxed whilst on their Ayahuasca journey. Now together with Master Juan, Divine Steps has been created and we hope to achieve all we set out to do back then. Our aim is to help people with whatever it is they personally wish to experience Ayahuasca for, may it be for mental, physical, spiritual or a greater understanding of who they are, a medicinal cleanse, detox or a combination of any of the above. Whatever the case may be for each individual we offer a safe and truly authentic family based environment for you to achieve your personal wish via the healing of Ayahuasca and other medicinal plants The Amazon rainforest has to offer within our idyllic setting.
