Drummond is in Central Western Southland. It is a small, picturesque town with views of the Longwoods and Takitimu Maunga. Our wider community is very engaged in supporting our kindergarten. At Drummond Rural Kindergarten the vision for our tamariki and kaiako is to be implementing sustainability through our everyday practices. Providing opportunities for our kaiako, tamariki, whΔnau and community to work alongside each other to achieve this outcome.
At Drummond Rural Kindergarten, we believe in planning and preparing to future-proof our kaupapa, our ways of doing and teaching and our sense of purpose, drive and belonging within the whenua for all akonga and their whΔnau. We ensure to model a deep focus on our community need and demand and how best we can support our whΔnau and the wider community.
Our kindergarten is nature-inspired and we pride our environment on the wonder and beauty that it provides for our tamariki. Social and emotional competencies are supported by qualified and competent educators who are passionate about supporting tamariki in their journey towards kura. Oral language and literacy are an important and vital element within our philosophy and daily approach for fostering competent and confident tamariki, capable in mind, body and hauora.
Drummond embraces cultural diversity through supporting all identities, cultures and languages which surround us. We have over 10 cultures emerged within our setting, all of which are welcomed, supported, and fostered daily. Inclusive diversity is what makes us who we are. Tamariki are positively empowered to foster an appreciation for kaupapa where they can develop an atawhai (kindness and respect) for themselves and others, their environment and the living world.
Nau mai haere mai and a warm welcome to all who want to be involved within our kindergarten! Come and make yourself at home and join us for a cuppa to meet the team and tamariki of Drummond Rural.
