🌾Ki te kotahi te kākaho ka whati, ki te kāpuia e kore e whati - If there is but one reed it will break, but if it is bunched together it will not.
- A tongikura by King Tāwhiao in reference to strength in unity
We were honoured to host Waitangi ki Whitianga 2026 and hold space for our community on this important day. Guided by the above tongikura, this kaupapa was about coming together to listen, reflect, and acknowledge our shared history and collective responsibilities.
Through hosting this kaupapa, space was created for people across our rohe to gather with openness and respect, recognising that strength is found in connection and collective presence. You could feel the aroha and kotahitanga in the space! This whakaaro (intention) continues to guide how we show up for one another as a community.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou to all who joined us - the many whānau and individuals that visited the event, funders, sponsors, in-kind supporters, musicians, ngā rōpu kapa haka, stallholders, MCs, live stage crew, event volunteers, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this second event a reality!
Ngā Tūmanako Whitianga Trust remains committed to hosting kaupapa that support unity, understanding, and collective responsibility within our community.
