ONERAHI'S TRAP SMASHING VANDAL IS ON A NON STOP MISSION TO DESTROY OUR EFFORTS TO HELP ONERAHI BE PREDATOR FREE.

15 TRAPS SMASHED SO FAR, THAT IS AROUND $180.00 PLUS FREIGHT DOWN THE DRAIN.

If you live overlooking Dragonfly Springs or in Raumati Crescent & Ngaio Street area .

Please keep watch out for a person trespassing the Sanctuary & let me know if you see someone.

WHO DID IT ONERAHI ?

Another trap smashed between Trapper Bridget's trapping circuit Sunday Morning and Trapper Karen's Circuit Today/Tuesday Trapping Circuit!!!!!

Eleven Traps smashed in 8 Days, this is getting expensive for what benefit?

We are trying to help make Onerahi Predator Free, and an asset for future generations.

Surely someone knows who it is that has been trespassing Dragonfly Springs??

What sick warped mind does this?

They obviously don't have the guts to do Constructive things.

Their brain doesn't see the positive our Green Space!

HELP US ONERAHI & WHANGAREI COMMUNITY.

DRAGONFLY SPRINGS WETLAND SANCTUARY WAS CREATED FOR YOU.

Soon to be gifted and transferred into the stewardship of Dragonfly Springs Wetland Sanctuary Incorporated Charitable Trust.

We need your help every day to protect this Environmental Education Sanctuary for present & future generations.

On Sunday 17th of May when I did the trapping rounds all traps were good.

Tuesday 19th when Trapper Karen checked the Trap boxes she found 5 traps maliciously smashed.

I replaced them with 5 new ones, Thursday on my trapping circuit all traps were OK.

Today Trapper Bridget discovered 5 new traps maliciously smashed.

The mentally deranged person has pulled the trap box locking pin, removed each trap, smashed them, then placed them back in their boxes and re inserted the locking pin.

Where does this progress too if our community does nothing???

Please help find this tresspasser & vandal and educate them to lead a Constructive life, not a Destructive life.

This week over $100's worth of traps are worthless.

We are trying to do good things for You, Whangarei & Onerahi communities.

You & Your children & grandchildren benefit present & future generations.

HURUPAKI SCHOOL VISIT with MOUNTAINS TO THE SEA TRUST.
Monday 18Th May 2026.

Team Leader Greer Morgan from Mountains to the Sea Trust ably assisted by Tracy Phillip Mountains to the Sea Trust & Zeralda Pirini Enviro Schools Northland.

8 Parents, 3 Teachers & an excited bunch of 41 Students came streaming through the Sanctuary gates 9.30am to gain more knowledge about Mother Nature.

After gathering in the Education Site and had their Health & Safety rules read to them.

I gave them a talk all about the Sanctuary and its role in looking after Mother Nature.

Then Greer and her Team took over to take them on a "Walk & Talk Nature Discovery Tour".

1st job was to empty the Litta Trap and discover what rubbish comes down the Storm water pipes and gets caught in the Trap.

Next Greer hauled out the Hinakis we placed in the water Sunday night to discover what lives in the ponds.

After this everyone headed to Pirate Island to to Walk the Plank and get a view of the Sanctuary for the Island's highest point.

Then it was on the trails for more of the "Walk & Talk Nature Discovery Tour"

Back at the Education Site little boilers got stoked with more fuel and the Adults caught their breaths.

Once all boilers were stoked they were away in small groups to study clarity of water and what Micro organisms live in the smaller ponds.

I'm sure everyone enjoyed themselves and hopefully their Sanctuary experience will bring them closer to learning more about Mother Nature.

U3A LOCAL INTEREST GROUP VISIT Thursday May 7th 2026.

It was great to have 11 members of Whangarei's University of the 3rd Age Group come to learn about the History of Dragonfly Springs.

After my introduction lecture about Dragonfly Springs at the E Site, they all came with me for my "Walk & Talk Tour"

A really nice day for a walk in the woods, lots of Forest Bathing and the weather was kind for the tour.

WHANGAREI CAMELIA SOCIETY VISIT 16TH APRIL 2026

A group of eleven members came for their monthly meeting and Lunch at the Education Shed.

Following a my presentation on the history of Dragonfly Springs Wetland and its benefits.

We went on a 21/2hr "Walk & Talk Tour" of the Sanctuary.

All of the members managed to safely walk the plank to our Pirate Island 😅.

A great time was had by all.

Yippee, another step closer to gifting the Dragonfly Springs to Dragonfly Springs Wetland Sanctuary Incorporated.

February 1st 2026.

With many thanks to Lions Rodney & Luke the storage shed assembled by WSP, now has a floor.

Next on the wish list is some "shelving" for efficient storage of Gumboots, Barbecue, Firepit, Gazebos, Pirate Flag, Hinaki's & more.

Any help with building the Storage Shed shelving will be gratefully received 🙏.

When the E Shed (40ft container) is empty, Tradies from three Lions club will fit it out.

Fully insulated & lined, wired up plus kitchen, etc ready for hand over day👍🙃🙃🙃.

So good to see the Cyclone Gabrielle slash & added slash pile all go through Cowleys Chipper 🙃😃.

WSP team also assembled our Bargain Backyard shed to store our Gazebos, Gumboots, Barbecue, Fire pit, & Pirate Flag & pole etc,👍👍.

Trails got cleared of overhanging branches and 2025 plantings got released from strangling weeds👍.

We're all exhausted, but what a great day, thanks again WSP Team👍👍.

We hope you had a fun Corporate Bonding day 😀.

FOREST BATHING FOR BABIES 👶

Every 2nd Friday Mums & their Babies go on Jodie's Forest Bathing walk amongst our 60,000native trees & plants.

Very cool & calming in such a peaceful surroundings, great for both young mums and their babies.

Nature cuddles you 💕.

It's really pleasing to see the young mums & babies enjoying the serenity of our Sanctuary.
