Maungatapere Mountain Trust are working to preserve and restore our Maungtapere Mountain reserve and surrounding ecological area.

The first big rain of autumn has come so we will begin winter planting. There are plenty of plants potted up and ready to go. Tuesdays 4.30 - 5.30 will be regular volunteer planting around the mountain - unless its raining. Meet at the nursery (SH14 opp. Watrous Downs)
Big revegetation plantings will be on the following dates;
11th April 2026 (Sat) 9am 729 State Highway 14 Maunu
10th May 2026 (Sun) 9am 593 Houto Rd Titoki
13th June 2026 (Sat) 9am 729 State Highway 14 Maunu
19th July 2026 (Sun) 9am 593 Houto Rd Titoki
Bring a spade, gloves, sturdy shoes and a water bottle. We usually have a bite to eat together afterwards, hosted by the landowner.
Put the dates in your calendar and hope to see some helpers on the day.

Bit more climbing asparagus demise on the mountain. Get in touch if you would like to help with this. We use 1/3 strength glyphosate and it doesn't damage the other vegetation.

Planting this Saturday 9th August, 9.30 am at 729 State Highway 14. Come and be part of creating forests around Whangarei. Sturdy shoes, gloves and a spade. Lunch and social after planting. See you there. :-)
