Whakatane District Pony Club

Whakatane District Pony Club The Whakatane District Pony Club was founded in 1948 and has had up to 6 branches under the New Zealand Pony Club structure.

There are currently 3 active branches, Whakatane Town, Edgecumbe and Kawerau. As a District we provide our branches training & support for both riders and instructors in the form of rallies (structured pony club instruction) and specialised instruction from national and international trainers. For Bay of Plenty Area and National Pony Club events, we select teams and provide these teams with traini

ng and support to represent the Whakatane District. Over the years our riders have achieved National titles is all disciplines and some have gone on to represent New Zealand. We also have developed a training squad environment to help riders move from the District to National level. In 1999 the District took over from the local ESNZ Show Jumping Group, an Australian Exchange Programme with a district in northern NSW. This programme is still running today.
